A NEW PERSPECTIVE?

How have the energies been treating you? Circumstances have had me running at full speed and feeling like I don’t have enough time to get everything done that needs doing. Of course, as we all know if we just take a slow breath, all things seem to take care of themselves and in the right timing. Boy, they have been powerful and the eclipse yesterday set unusual events in motion. Have you noticed things happening that you would never expect or that do not make sense?

Yesterday, my cruise roommate and I met at a library with our computers so we could choose which activities we wanted to do both off ship and on board. We live an hour apart so this seemed simpler (huh?) than trying to do it over the phone which we had actually tried. She is much more computer savvy than I so is much quicker. Our computers connected to the WiFi and I got on the website with her guidance. She then tried to connect her computer and it just kept trying to connect to the same website I was on and we finally realized that it was not going to. My screen, on the other hand, which was on the website, would not allow me to rest at the top of the page. No matter what we did, it would fall to the bottom of the page and would not rest anywhere else. After a half hour, we finally gave up and I think it is because the website must have been down but who knows. This morning, my computer screen has a circle on it with writing telling me to TAP HERE and get a message about people I do not even know. ????? I am glad that it disappears when I get onto my email or a website, it is only there when I open it up.

Last night, when I got to the senior center to participate in my Pitch league card game, I reached for my purse. My bottle of water was sitting upright in it with no cap???? I know I filled it before I left home and put the cap on and sat it upright in my purse. What was going on? So I began to scour my purse for the cap and it was not in there. I could not find it anywhere and decided to bring my water with me being careful not to spill it. Then I reached for the $20 bill I had put in my shirt pocket and it was missing? I then started to laugh and giggle. My teammates were going by my car giving me strange looks. Here I was by myself and laughing for no reason. I opened my window and explained and they just shook their heads in bewilderment.

I decided to look one more time for the cap after I had stopped laughing and there it was. It had fallen between the seats. But who or what had unscrewed the cap so that it might fall there? And without spilling a drop of water anywhere? I started to giggle again, reached in my wallet for another $20 and got out of the car. When I turned back, there was a $20 bill sitting on my seat. How did that happen? Finally, I said to one of the card players laughingly that someone up there was having fun with me. We both shook our heads but I never got upset. In fact, it set the tone for the evening. Everyone one was in an especially good mood and there was a lot of laughing.

There are 6 tables with 4 players at each. Suddenly I looked at the table to my left and saw to my amazement that the two men sitting and playing cards at that table were bitter enemies. And not only that, they were partners, which of course they did not choose to be. We each pick a card numbered 1-6 to see which of the 6 tables we will be sitting at. We do not choose our partners or the other two players in all fairness. I looked at my partner who was aware of their feelings for each other and we had another chuckle. God or the Universe has a lot of fun with us humans and has quite a sense of humor. Don’t you think? And we think we are in control!

WILL WONDERS NEVER CEASE?

I never thought I would live to see this day. When I heard on the news that Pope Francis was seriously looking into having women deacons in the Catholic Church, I almost choked. When I was a little girl, the biggest thrill for me was to be able to go to church every morning during Lent.. At that time, we had to fast from Midnight on before receiving Communion so my mom would make me egg salad sandwiches with hot cocoa which I would bring with me and eat after Mass and Communion. Now that I am an adult, I realize that I probably could have gone to Mass every day even if it was not in Lent, but at that age, I was only thankful that I could do it during that special time.

I fell in love with Jesus (Jeshua) and he was the only one I prayed to. God, he was OK, Mother Mary, she was OK but Jesus, HE was my guy. Do you know that I have a license plate on my car that reads: JESUS IS MY GUY. No kidding. Back as a child, little girls were not allowed up on the altar. Only boys could as altar boys as they were called then. Today the little girls get to go up on the altar and all of them are called altar servers. It certainly was a male dominated era. Even though, the nuns were female and taking care of the altar, they were allowed only to do the work so the priests could do what was considered important. It sounds so medieval as I write this.

20 years ago, I achieved my dream of being on the altar where things look so different as you see the altar more clearly without all the people’s heads in the way. And you see the rest of the church from a different angle. Before this, I always tried to sit in the front pew so I could “feel” more like I was part of the ceremony taking place.

Since I was young, I have been terrified of microphones. In fact, at one house party with other married friends, they liked to pass around a microphone to everyone but I always went to the bathroom when it was my turn. Evidently that was noticed and one night, before I could get away, they pushed the microphone in front of my face. Guess what I did? I broke down in the “ugly” cry, I was so terrified. I was so embarrassed. I was terrified of spiders too and many other things. When I got more mature, I made a promise to myself that I would conquer all my fears. After all, they were just in my head, weren’t they?

My brother tortured me with spiders as a child so I concentrated on that fear first. I would use my husband’s shoes for a year which was a big step as I would usually run from them. Then I graduated to using my own shoes and eventually graduated to accepting them and left them alone to be who they were. I became a Reiki Master which meant taking vows to honor ALL life including the insects and spiders. I found out later that they are a symbol for money or abundance.

I then focused on conquering my fear of public speaking and microphones. First I joined Toastmasters, a group where you learn to speak in front of others which of course meant handling and dealing with a microphone. I even won a humorous contest in Toastmasters while going through a divorce. I was on my way. I became a Eucharist Minister who gives Communion so that I could face people one on one and give them such a precious gift at the same time. Then I became a lector at church which terrified me, it meant facing the whole congregation. In Toastmasters, I only had to face other people who had the same fear. The first time, I was so nervous and my stomach and knees let me know that. I was still shaking after Mass when people kept coming up to me and saying: “I could hear you. I could understand you!”. I suddenly realized that my greatest fear was my greatest gift to the world. It seems my voice resonates at a tone that even the hard of hearing can hear clearly. What an awakening that was. With those two skills, I was allowed on the altar.

I remember when my church put out the ad looking for prospective deacons only a short 10 years ago. I asked about female deacons but they were not even in consideration at that time. I guess I am a female rebel at heart as I believe that all people should be considered equal. I am not able physically to fulfill the role of deacon now but I am ecstatic that other women will have the opportunity to participate in the religious ceremonies in a deeper capacity. Hoorah! Another win for womanhood and another big milestone conquered. Have you noticed just how much women have gained the right to be equal, at least in the USA. We even have a female Presidential Candidate. NOW, let’s spread it around the world.

I have tried hard to conquer all my weaknesses but have to admit, I still have more to go. I liked this message from Eckhart Tolle and his explanation of why we still have some lingering challenges.

EARTH DAY – REMEMBER HER

HAPPY EARTH DAY! Today is the one day a year set aside to honor our mother who gives birth to us on a minute by minute basis. Without her air, how long would you survive? We could live longer without food but for how long? That does not take into account that all we have here on Earth comes from her support. Take a breath and give her thanks for which she gives so freely (even when we mess her up). Please join me in honoring HER with gratitude for all that she gives so freely.

As I look out upon the lake, I give thanks. The birds have come back to me because she took care of them while I was gone. Yes, we have a little too much water right now, but it is spring and it is feeding the ground for summer. I look at her body and all the intricacies that she embodies and I look at the similarities with my body in all of its intricacies that allow me to enjoy physical life on this planet and I am in awe of its magnitude. Guess what, we don’t control Earth any more than we control our body. We don’t have to tell our bodies to breathe or our hearts to beat or the trillion other things our body does for us automatically. Compare that to the Earth who does the exact same things for the trillion of us humans and all of life on Earth. We can disrupt our body and also that of Mother Earth yet gratitude and love goes a long way to keep both of us at the top of our form. Just take a minute to recognize both your body and the body of your home planet and give thanks to them both. Both of them are miracles. Without them our Spirit would not be able to experience physicality which is such a gift.
