GOOD SAMARITANS – DO YOU KNOW ANY?

How glorious it is to see such vibrant colors that Mother Nature is sharing with us. I have a maple tree in my yard that is a most striking vibrant orange. Looking across the lake I have enjoyed the changing of the leaves for at least two weeks now. The ones near the water change first and then it gradually goes up the mountain trees behind that. It is now starting to show white or grey leafless trees amidst the colorful ones who are still in process. Sounds like humanity doesn’t it? There are always the light green of the new ones, the colorful ones in process and which gradually go to the grey of the seniors. Each has its day and moment of glory. There are still pontoon boats around the lake as the residents are enjoying the last bit of warmth and color.

Something happened to me yesterday that reminded me of how useless worry and planning are. One of my strengths is my planning ability-my preparing for each contingency. Then I chuckle or downright laugh as my plans are interrupted with something completely different than I expected but is actually something better. We are taken care of, looked after in a way that shows itself in small and large ways. As I was driving down this 2 lane highway with a steel barrier parting the east and west bound, I was in the fastest lane, the passing lane. All of a sudden, I heard and felt this shaking and loud sound. As I looked in my rear view mirror I noticed the plastic covering for my spare tire in the middle of the lane. ???? For a moment I did not know what to do but I then started to look for a way to turn around. It seemed like an eternity as I was not finding a left turn to turn around. I had several cars tooting at me and then passing me telling me about what had fallen off my SUV. I tried to signal that I was trying to turn around. Finally I did something I suppose I should not have done but I was so concerned that that covering which was as large as my tire was in the passing lane and could very well create an accident. I went right into a driveway opposite an opening in the guard rail at a light and then cut across but had to wait to make the Uturn because there was traffic coming. The cars trying to go left from their direction were tooting their horns and I am sure many were frustrated with me.

Finally I was going back but then had to stop at another light so I could make another U-turn. I was wondering where I had lost it as it felt like I had traveled miles. I tried to see it in the opposite lanes as I made my way back. I saw it and tried to guestimate just how far I would have to go to retrieve it. I made another U-turn and thought I had better put my emergency blinkers on. I put the lights on and started to go slow to let the other cars coming fast that I was in trouble. I was terrified to stop in this lane as the other cars swerved to avoid me but I had no choice. It was not only that I would need this tire cover, the most important thing in my mind was safety for others, although it probably did not seem that way by what I was doing. I knew that an accident could occur as other cars tried to swerve not to hit it and could run into cars in the other lane.

I took a deep breath and finally stopped my car and noticed as I did so that another car behind me had stopped a distance away and put his flashers on too. I hopped out of my car and retrieved the cover in the road in front of me, put it in my trunk, acknowledged the other driver and blew him a kiss as I hopped back into my car and back to safety as I drove off. There was a woman with him who looked at me so confused but I waved again at my hero as he drove past me in the passing lane as I went into the slower lane.

What an experience!!!!!!! Of course it took me a while to quiet my heart and breath. I realized how many people had risked their lives so I would be safe. The ones honking at me to let me know something had fallen off my car to the biggest hero of all who protected me by risking his life and car to defend my back as well as my body. Whew! How many times do people we do not know come to our rescue? I had no way of verbally thanking him or even mailing a thank you card with no name or address.

That day started out so calm, even if I was frustrated that the idiot lights (I call them that) had come alive on my dashboard. Before I left to see John of God, a light saying Maint req’d shone bright. I called my mechanic and he said not to worry about it so I didn’t. I came home and 5 days ago, the light for my pressure in my tires went on. UGH! I had decided to go see my mechanic so he could shut those idiot lights off. He had told me just to stop by and he would do it. He checked all my tires and still the light would not go off. He suggested I go to a tire place that would have different equipment to test why it would not shut off. I set off for Town Fair Tire which was about 1/2 hour away but they had been very good to me the last time so I wanted to reciprocate. I was on my way there when the fiasco above happened. When I finally got to the tire place, they checked my tires and finally were able to shut that darn light off. I asked them if they could put the cover back on my spare tire and they did it. They were so willing and they didn’t even charge me. My mechanic had not charged me either so boy, was it my lucky day? I am so gratefull, for these may be small things to those offering it, but they make my heart grow bigger and I try to Pass it On when I get the chance. Isn’t that what makes this world go around? There are more people like that on this planet than the ones that take advantage of us. Let us be thankful for them and try to be aware of the times when we can give back.

Here is simple way to calm our mind and spirit. It amazes me how we actually use our breath in so many ways. During my episode, I was calm inside but outside, my body was doing its job by breathing deeply. It seems to happen so naturally to me now but there are still times, I need to do it consciously.

With all the news about guns and all the shootings, I could not come to any decisive way to stop the tragedies…..until I read this article in the Spirit of Change magazine. It has a lot of food for thought and a way that I would never have considered. See what you think.

Life can be so exciting. It thrills me to see all the new innovations that are created and the solutions to problems that I myself cannot figure out. I admire the human mind and all the guidance it receives. Here is a solution that, to my mind, was not possible. And yet it is.

GLOBAL ENERGY

I am sure that no one who is alive in the US this week is unaware of the historical moment of the Pope’s visit. I, for one, am so grateful to be alive to witness such a significant event in our country and in our world. I am also grateful for the technology we have even if it is my nemesis. I was and am able to record all of the TV coverage of this monumental occasion. I only wish that the TV Guide would have updated its guide so I would know which channel to record. So…..I am recording only two of the channels that appear to be offering the most coverage.

A nearby college opened its cafeteria to the public so we could view the Pope’s address to Congress on a large screen and then stay for the discussions afterward. It was an opportunity that my scooter afforded me as the campus is large. Not being familiar with the campus, I figured there would be a lot of walking to get to the right place and I was right. I am so grateful for the opportunities that the scooter affords me and guess what? I had my own seat so I had a ring side view. Since the Pope is only a year older than me, I admire him for learning a new language, English. I don’t believe I could do that. As I listened to him, I realized that I could not decipher much of his speech due to the accent he has. I enjoyed watching though, especially his right hand which was so expressive.

After the address to Congress, there was a discussion where people could ask questions of the presiders of which there were four, three men and one woman (doesn’t that ratio seem to be the order of the day?) who each gave a brief synopsis of what they garnered from the talk. Afterwards, the floor was open for questions which were great because we got perceptions from different people. After all the questions were done, I raised my hand. They brought me the mike and I talked a little about my reaction to the Pope and I raised the fact that I had missed a lot because I was unable to understand a lot of words. Would there be a way that I could get a written copy of his address? Right away, one of the presiders, the priest, said: “Mary just wait until after we are done here and I will be able to get you a written copy of his speech”. I was flabbergasted and I teased him about miracles. Many people came up to me afterward, thanking me for having the courage to state that I had not understood because of his accent. Many people went home with the talk in print and was told how to get it from the internet. Fr Warren Savage sent it to me by email just in case(hehe) that I would not be able to find it myself. I think he is a mind reader. If you are interested: google The Holy See, click on travel, 2015, outside Italy and you will see the ad for the Pope’s address. This is for people who are comfortable with the technology and want to know more than just this particular address and if not, I will add the link below.

When I got home, I found the Pope’s address on the TV and I started to listen to it again, hoping to be able to understand him better. I had an AHA moment. Why not print out the written one that was emailed to me and read it while I listened and watched the Pope? It was fantastic and I got the real meaning behind much of what I had missed. I so enjoyed it as it seemed new to me. I am going to give you that link just in case you would you like to read what was actually said.

I was so engrossed in watching the recordings of the goings on of the Pope that I forgot to go to the farm and pick up my beef. We set the date for this morning. On my way to the farm, one of those idiot lights (I call it that) lit up and said :”Maint Reqd” While I am driving to the farm, I kept surrendering this concern and placed it in the hands of the Masters. I KNOW THAT ALL IS IN DIVINE ORDER. I had ordered hamburg but neglected to say hamburg patties. I did not realize the error until I went to put the meat in the freezer. Uggh! When I got back, I called my mechanic in kind of a panic (although I was peaceful inside). He is closed on Saturday and Sunday and I am leaving Monday on a trip to NY to see John of God so I am trying to figure out how to fit all of this in. My mechanic said not to worry, it does not mean my car is unsafe and when I had the time, I could stop by and he would reset the light for me. He knows my car in and out as I am methodical about taking care of my car.

A technician from Home Depot was scheduled to come at 2 PM to check out my door and then my son called and was coming up with my grandson. We were going to go for lunch when they got here so I would be home for two and then I got a call from the Tech asking if he could come at noon as he had a cancellation. I am writing this to you in between all the busyness but may not be able to finish it until after my son and grandson leave. Is your day going like that? The energy has been profound and it is no accident that the love that was so freely given by the Pope to all of humanity comes at this junction of our earthly sojourn. HEED THE NEW ENERGIES

I realize the newsletter is going out later than usual. I had a morning doctor appointment in Timbuktu and when I finally arrived home the lake was calling my name. So…I went out on a kayak ride although I cut corners (coves) so I could get back sooner. Some homes have already been closed for the winter and some boats have been put up. This is the time of the year when I so appreciate the warm sun and warm days. Our nights, starting tonight will go down into the 40’s and the days will be more fall like. We have been having a mini drought so my electric bill was only $32 this month as the sub pump has had no need to run. Everything has its polarity and there are both sides to every coin. I am savoring all the best that summer had to offer and enjoying what is to come in the fall but I can’t say that for old man winter.

I have been laughing at Trump’s shenanigans. He is certainly stirring the pot and he is the poster child for all the frustration that Americans have been feeling. I certainly cannot see him negotiating with any of the other countries, he just cannot negotiate. Yet, I thank him for expressing our complete dissatisfaction with our government and its leaders. It does not matter which party you belong to, the apathy and frustration knows no bounds and I hope the people in this country give that message where it will do the most good, in the elections. What I would like most is to see all parties disappear where we would vote for the person, for the one who has our interests at heart and the big money cannot buy or touch their abilities to serve the office they were elected to.

Eckhart Tolle seems to express a way that we can reach our inner self or god self so that we make the best decisions. Whenever there is a quandary in you, try doing what he is speaking about. I bet you will be surprised.

Here is a being that I have not heard from in a while. Welcome back Nancy. She is a true model that it is okay to step back and take a breather. The world goes on and it may surprise you to know that there are many that won’t notice you were gone ….until you come back. Her message seems quite apropos for the time that is at hand. Next week is the Solstice and the Blood Moon and eclipses. Give yourself a break and allow yourself time to absorb the energies that are here only for us humans.
