to me

Beloved,

I hope you are surviving these heat waves in comfort and peace.  Finally, my transition into having air conditioning is almost at an end.  Just the finishing touches in my learning just how to get the most comfortable air in my home is taking root.  My son Steve has been to stores to buy items and then back to my home many times.to Mickey Mouse the air conditioner to work for my greatest comfort.  Since the air conditioner hose from the window to the unit itself was too short to allow the coolness to reach the hallway so it would disperse to the whole house, he adapted.  That is one of his greatest gifts but one which causes a lot of frustration also, especially since I live in a very small town and the closest Home Depot is about an hour away.

He spliced the air conditioner hose and inserted tubing into both ends which allows the unit to almost reach the door to the hallway.  Then he got a 16” pedestal fan that could change the direction of the flow to either end of the hallway to reach the other rooms.  I was planning on going to the store and get a 30” fan which by I located by phone calls.  This has been such an unusual season that there are no air conditioners left to buy and hardly any fans either, thus I let my fingers do the walking. My ignorance of all knowledge concerning what we were attempting to do did not help very much.  Steve called me about an hour before I was setting out on my jaunt to find fans and mentioned that he had found a 16” fan which is just what I needed.  Can you imagine if I had bought the 30”, it would have taken up my entire hallway with no place left for me to walk?  I have to laugh at this adventure.  Buying what you think you need and then having to return it because you needed something else instead. And…it is not a quick and easy jaunt to the store.

I love seeing my son and enjoy his company. He has come 4 times a week for the past three weeks and I am feeling like such an imposition on his time. Here is another opportunity for me to accept help with grace and gratitude. Life gives me many laughs.  We are born helpless and accept and take help for granted.  Then we get to our teens and are doggedly determined to get independent.  For 40 years we learn to take care of ourselves and our families.  Then we reach an age where there are so many things that we did that are impossible for us to do anymore.  So then we return to our infant stages. It feels like we have to give up all that we worked so hard for. Why did we work so hard?  I think I know….to finally relax and accept our humanness and be able to admit what we don’t know

My ignorance took up much of his time as he struggled to explain how to operate an air conditioner.  I would never have guessed that it would challenge me so much but since the humidity here was 80 and not 60-65 like the news said, I had to learn to alternate between the air conditioner when the temperature was hot and use the dehumidifier when it was cool in my home. I walked around with sweaters on for a week or two until I realized that I was setting it at lower and lower temperatures so it would run and  get rid of the humidity when it would have been good to switch to my other lifesaving machine, the dehumidifier.

The sun and the planet are in a great transition right now and we humans are being affected. What affects our planet, affects us. I am not into astrology or any of the other means of predicting what is happening but thankfully, there are other humans who can give us a heads up.

I wish I had gotten this sooner but this vote affects each of us.  You can still put your two cents in anyway so our government will know what we think about this subject.

Grandma stories appeal to me especially since I am one.  This is comical as well as inspiring.

ARE YOU A BEACON?

Beloved,

I am sitting here at the computer with all the windows open, hurray!.  It is so great to hear the birds and their chirping and singing.  My favorite time is to open my house to all of nature and her sounds.  I did go on my air conditioner trip and it has been such a learning experience.  I only have two rooms where the furniture and windows would allow me to put a portable one in so I picked the spare bedroom to put it in with the hope that the coolness and dryness would spread to the rest of my five room house albeit at a less effective outcome. I have a modular home, two halves of a house put together therefore I do not have any side windows and each room only has one window except the living room which has a bow window which is not conducive to putting the attachment to bring the moisture outside.

So….I bought an 8,000 BTU which had confusing info as to the footage that it would take care of. Even on line, it said 350 sq ft but on the written paper with the air conditioner it said 150 sq ft TO 250 sq ft. The hose was not long enough to make much of a difference to the rest of the house and the air felt like cold wet air.  Not refreshing at all. I was really trying to adapt to the noise, the lack of space in the room and wondering if this is what air conditioning really did.

I decided to call different Ocean State Job Lots to see if they had any new delivery of air conditioners even though when I had called them before, they told me that they would NOT be getting any more this year. All the stores were sold out but a little voice told me to try. I was hoping but was actually surprised when I was told at this particular location that they had a 14,000 BTU air conditioner that had been returned, not used at all but it was without the box it came in. Consequently the price went from$350 to $210 because it had no box.  All the required pieces were there and the paperwork also.  I was so excited so I called my son and told him about it.  He said to go check it out and he would install it for me. If I did buy it, they would allow me to return it if it did not fit or I could not use it because I was buying it without the box????  What did I have to lose if it did not work except for putting my son through more work which he did not seem to mind doing? One BIG thing I learned through this is that I cannot be the independent person that I was before as things have changed so much that  I just do not know what is out there let alone of how to do it. I am ever so grateful for my older son who has assumed the burden of caring for his mother and trying to understand why I do NOT understand what he takes for granted in his knowing. As I left the store with my new purchase, there lay a penny on the ground.  I laughed and picked it up as the angels spread these pennies around to remind us if what is printed and true on this coin of the smallest denomination…. In God We Trust.  I had trusted in His voice who had spoken to me.

I had been told that the higher BTU is bigger and louder but this one was not any louder than the smaller one. And….the air when it was running was not cold and wet, it was dry and cool.  I have not been able to really test it as it has been so nice the last three days that no air conditioner was needed.  The next week is going back to being humid so I will be able to really test the larger one to see if it will do what I need it to do.  The saga of learning about air conditioners is soon to be a thing of the past.

You actually do not need to say or do anything, your Light is like a Lighthouse Beacon .We are all beacons as we go about our life.

Imagine a caravan of grandmothers.  This is such a great idea and blesses those who are able to join it.  I am sure that grandfathers will be a part of it also.

THE UNDERSTATED AFFECTION OF FATHERS

Beloved,

Happy Father’s Day to all fathers and those who assume that role!

As a woman, I cannot fully understand fatherhood but I know it when I see it, or so I thought.  I finally realize that that when I saw affection between father and son, that it was the perfect expression of fatherly love. This article will bring new light to this subject and I hope you can let the light bulbs of recognition go off.

Today is a day that celebrates not only dads but families of which they are an integral part.  Here is an article from a mom who has allowed 2 men to adopt her son.

http://www.spiritofchange.org/Spring-2018/What-I-Want-For-My-Son-And-The-Daddies-Who-Adopted-Him/

Speaking of dads and their roles in all of our lives, I had quite an eye opener with the Canadian Geese.  I have been watching them on my lake for 20 years or more but I never “noticed” what I saw the other day.  The swimming area is cordoned off by buoys and it makes a safe place for the children away from boats.  This particular morning, I happened to notice a lot of activity in this safe area.  There are 15 new baby geese and 6 new parents.  I can’t tell the male from the female but I know there are always 6 adults with the three families of geese.  When the geese are babies, the parents are wary of any other adults but as they grow, the families start to come together like in a community.

This particular morning, I noticed so many more adults with the babies and the adults kept taking turns in putting their head and neck down into the water and aiming themselves as a straight body across the water, then the wings flap a lot and fast.  Then I noticed the young ones imitating the adults and I realized that they were in basic training. They were being trained in offense and defense tactics.  ALL the adults were participating including those that were not the parents.  They were acting as a well-oiled community.  It made me realize that we humans don’t belong to communities anymore and I felt so sad.  Growing up in a small town, that was what I knew and now I am acutely aware that my grandchildren do not have that security.  Let’s bring back the communities. Families are so very important and every member is very important.

This is graduation time all over our country.  A very special message came from this young man. He had a brother who was his father figure.  Hooray for the men who  stand up  when needed.

Could you do this?  I can’t even bring the Rubik cubes to fruition let alone while juggling. Notice the father or father figure at the end of this effort.

Here is another story of an adoptive adult.  It made me smile. Check this STORY out and see if you smile also.
