AHA MOMENTS

Our weather has been fluctuating between below freezing temperatures which created quite a few accidents last Monday night and Tuesday morning, to two days of rain, to today which is still below freezing but sunny. I have bird feeders which are primarily for smaller birds especially the Golden Finch. Last Tuesday morning I noticed an Eastern Towhee at the thistle bird feeder. That was quite unusual as they are ground feeders and are always under the feeders scrounging for food. Then I noticed this Towhee at the finch feeders every day, several times a day.

This morning as I was preparing my breakfast, there he was again at the feeder. I chuckled and thought: “you are different aren’t you? Your brothers and sisters are not following your lead but you are getting fed and they are not!” as the ground is covered by ice crusted snow. Suddenly as I was chuckling and enjoying this little black and white fluffy round ball of fur, I became aware of what I had said. A light went off in my head and I was aware of an AHA moment.

It is OK to be different, to march to the beat of a different drummer. I am unique and so are you. That is OK. We are being fed from a different source than we are familiar with. The Creator is guiding us to feed ourselves, our Spirits in a unique way. By you allowing yourself to be different, to be unique, to be YOU, a new model is being presented to the world. You are the prototype of a new species that is being fed by the Creator in a unique way and you will never be hungry for Love again. Love yourself enough to follow your heart and feed your Spirit in a different way. This little bird was happy with his full belly and he was happy being who he is. Be content with who you are and follow your own guidance.

I am sure that bird would enjoy having his fellow companions along for the feast. So would you. It is OK to want companionship and love from others. After all they are our family. Isn’t it great to belong to such a family that arrives when you need them most?

CONTRAST & BEAUTY

What contrast we have been experiencing lately. It is showing up everywhere including our politics. This is all an experience helping us to live in the moment as each moment is different so nothing stays status quo. It awakens us from our slumber of just putting one foot in front of the other so that we consciously are aware of what is in front of us right now.

The last three days have been balmy and in the 60’s. While I thoroughly enjoy the warmer weather, I could not help but feel sad that my kayak was put away for the winter. The wind and the water were perfect for a jaunt around the lake and when I am kayaking, I thoroughly immerse myself in each stroke and watching the shoreline with all the different houses and how different they all are as they enjoy being on the water and the effect of the lake upon them. I know I need reminders to be more in the present and enjoy what is now as it will change. And you know, we humans do not like change.

This morning I woke up to a Winter Wonderland. The Artic Freeze hit last night with rain and snow. My wish when it snows is that it would only snow on the trees and the grass, leaving the streets and driveways clear so we do not have to shovel. That is exactly what happened. The snow is soft and fluffy, it looks like cotton balls have been strewn everywhere. On the grass, it is not smooth, it looks like batting, not smooth but bumpy as it emphasizes the individual puff of snow. My street and driveway were perfectly free of snow as it had melted upon landing.

I had my breakfast looking out my bow window at the marvelous display that Mother Nature had put out for us to enjoy. Whereas yesterday everything was brown; the leaves were now gone and the plants were brown and the grass less green as we have had a frost.. Although warm it looked like a desert with nothing much alive. NOW, each brown leafless branch was covered with soft fluffy snow. Looking out at the mountain range across the lake was astounding. It was all white and as the sun came up; it created shadows yet also highlighted areas with its light played upon the snow. It was so beautiful to behold this with the water moving in the lake and the shadows playing with the sun creating different scenarios right before my eyes. The beach looked so different with thebrown sand having no snow and the grass was white, what a contrast. This is not something you see very often. I was being so grateful for this gift given to me as I did not always take the time to enjoy and savor the simple and yet miraculous happenings around me. I set my intention there and then, to take the time to sit and enjoy what Mother Nature is giving for my pleasure. I want to enjoy each moment without feeling sad because it is not totally what I wanted at that moment. A small breeze came up and then the powder puffs of snow were being blown off my tree right towards me as I sat inside in the warmth of my home. Contrast can be beautiful, it is what we make of it. I feel so full.

OPENING YOUR HEART AND MIND

This has been a week of learning many things I did not know before. It is so good to be aware of all the secrets that are being exposed during this epic time on Earth. I don’t believe that the secrets were held back for so called “Control” but I think many of our leaders in industry and government were under the incorrect assumption and belief that they were acting in our behalf, that we were not ready to know any of this knowledge. How wrong they were but Jesus knew better and said: “When the student is ready, the teacher appears”. Well, we are READY. Be willing to be aware of different aspects on any subject that you think you know all about.

I know that my belief on Cannabis (Pot, Marijuana) has been one sided. I was firm in my belief that it was simply another addictive drug like Crack, Heroin, etc. This article has given me a different perspective and much to think about. Having this information, I can now come to my own conclusion. I am sharing it with you so that your eyes may be opened slightly to the health benefits even above pain elimination.

Have you ever asked St. Anthony to locate something you lost, like maybe your keys and anything else that you misplaced? I don’t know about you but I ask him a lot and he always comes through. St. Anthony’s Church in Springfield was able to bring a relic of St. Anthony to our area and I wanted to honor all the times he has helped me so I went to a celebration Mass last night. The relic, a small bone of St. Anthony’s is quite a phenomenon as his body is uncorrupted although he died thousands of years ago. There are many “miracles” that have occurred that long ago and are still continuing to happen. Do you believe in “miracles’? I do as I am aware of many small miracles that happen on a continual basis.

I have been Catholic my whole life and I learned something new about my Church last night. A booklet was given out so we could follow the Mass and it also explains many things that I was not aware of. The Catholic Church is composed of twenty two churches, subdivided into two sections, Western and Eastern. The Western section is made up of one church, The Roman Catholic Church; the Eastern section is made up of Twenty- one churches, one of which is the Maronite Catholic Church, of which St. Anthony’s Church is one. St Anthony’s remains an ethnic oriented church; however it is with open arms that they have welcomed the many non-Lebanese families who have embraced the Maronite liturgy.

The three elements that make the church Catholic are the creed, the seven sacraments and all are united under the Pope. The Maronites cherish their church and spoke the Syriac Aramaic language, a dialect of Aramaic, spoken by Jesus. Syriac Aramaic is still used in parts of the Maronite Liturgy, especially the words of consecration. I learned and say the Lord’s Prayer in Aramaic so Jesus’ language is special to me. Isn’t it amazing what we do not know or are not aware of? I now have a deeper understanding of things I believed all my life. All of this information expands my deep appreciation for all who came before me and especially for the help that St. Anthony gives me when I ask.
