SOME NEWFANGLED ARTICLES

Please overlook the varied colors, I have not been able to fix it so I decided to send it to you as it is.

This newsletter is a little later than usual as I went to my car mechanic early this morning to get a new gas tank strap put on.  The temporary fix to hold it up that was put on last Friday did its job and it held up the gas tank for a week while we waited for the new one to come in. I thought you might enjoy reading another twist to this story. I play cards in a Pitch League at the Senior Center and last night was the final night of this round and our banquet to celebrate the winners.  I won first place which was a surprise to me as I don’t watch the scores because I just enjoy the game.  For me, watching the scores would add a different dimension to my enjoyment of the game and the people I get to play with. What a gift that was.  I was able to pay for the full repair of my car, an oil change and still have $15 left over to take myself to my favorite Gluten Free restaurant for fish and chips tonight.  This restaurant, Diane’s Villa Nova, is the only restaurant where I can get GF Fish and Chips. They have a dedicated fryer for just GF fried food as well as a regular fryer. Fried food is the hardest food to get anywhere for Celiacs.

Have you heard about the Sacred Plant?  That is what it was called back in the early 1900’s before it was discovered by the Pharmaceutical Companies to be a plant that helps a myriad of diseases and physical conditions. It was then GMO’d and banned because the companies were losing a lot of money.  Imagine a product that could help ordinary mankind (not the rich) be in control of their own bodies.  Are you interested?

TRUST AND SURRENDER

How do you know you are trusting and surrendering? I feel like I trust God, All that Is, Angels, Higher Self or whatever you call Source but do I really? Am I really surrendering to the Higher Power?

I left early to go to my Card League last night as I wanted to stop at my favorite restaurant, Diane’s Villa Nova in Holland,  and inquire about my friend and its owner who has been ill for 3 months. On the way there, suddenly something started to make a racket under my car. When something is banging, you hear every bump or inconsistency in the road and being in a small town, the roads are quite bumpy I thought it might be my tail pipe and I made a decision to check it out when I got to the restaurant.  I got there and all of sudden the husband and owner of the restaurant was by my side and said he heard me coming from a mile away.

I checked my tail pipe but that was fine. Scott and I both bent down further and noticed something hanging in the middle of my car.  I had no idea what it was but after lying on the ground and scooting under my car, he thought it was the hanger for my gas tank. I certainly felt lucky because dragging metal creates sparks and my gas tank was so close to them. I had a bungee cord in my car so after some maneuvering , Scott was able to secure it somewhat but said he did not know how long it would last.

I was so grateful to Scott as I felt much better about driving my car now. Here Scott was quite busy as the restaurant is a family run operation so when one of the parents is missing, it is tough on everyone and time is at a premium. Yet he took his time to help me without regard for what he had been doing.  He might have even been eating his supper. Friends like Scott, Diane and their kids are more precious to me than gold. The meals they serve are all natural and homemade. Even the French fries are hand cut, they are not bought frozen. Their Shepherd pie reminds me of my childhood, it is that good.  They do not even have a microwave in the restaurant, so you know everything is fresh. The restaurant even has a dedicated fryer just for gluten free fried foods.  Where else can you get Fish and Chips that are gluten free? One of the boys, a chef, has Celiac and is very aware of food contamination and how to cook gluten free. Regular food is also served and they have another fryer for regular food. Even their grandfather’s sauce recipe with the same ingredients is used.   Diane makes the desserts herself so you know she has been missed by a lot of people. I am getting hungry just writing to you about that restaurant. BUT….most of all, the way they treat their customers like family is the real treasure you gain when you visit their restaurant.

My mechanic, Paul Teta of Teta’s  Automotive in Chicopee, who I have had take care of my cars for 30 years, has his garage about three quarters of an hour away from my home.  At this time of night, he was closed but I was sure he would at least look at it tomorrow.  I can’t tell you how much safer I felt driving down the highway and turnpike without that metal dragging under my car. I went early this morning and was the first one there.  I did not have an appointment but he listened to me and brought the car in for an inspection.  Scott was right on, it was the hanger for the gas tank and no store stocks it, so he ordered it for me and it will be in next week.  In the meantime, he made secure the loose metal and the tank until he could fix it next week.  Again, they feel like family to me and I know I can trust them whenever I run into any problem with my car.

I feel so fortunate to have people like this in my life. Episodes like this remind me of all the times I have been blessed and looked after. Of course, I know the angels and my team are hard at work up there, synchronizing every minute so all falls into place.  I am sure this has happened to you also. Getting back to trusting and surrendering; I have no problem trusting that I am cared for and all is well.  Yet, I woke up at 3:30am and was not able to fall back to sleep.  Do you think it is because I did not surrender as much as I wanted to? I do not outwardly fret as much as I used to and I was not consciously concerned about this but evidently I was worrying unconsciously or I would have slept through the night.  I guess I am not there yet but I am working on it or should I say, I want to “Love What Shows Up” per Matt Kahn.

MOVE OUT OF CHAOS

Spring is on its way. El Nino is giving us an early spring and the sun even feels warmer than usual. I know that Easter is early this year yet it feels warmer and I bet the kids can wear their Easter finery this year.

I have been going through quite a long period of introspection. I am a planner and I achieve peace and security when I plan ahead but these last three months have thrown me into a tizzy. It seems that all the plans I make are interrupted in some way that requires me to think and act differently. I know that the general population is experiencing this also. We are being taught to fly by the seat of our pants and we are becoming more ingenious in what we have to do and how to accomplish the same feat. This is happening globally yet just think of all the new inventions that are being created because of the chaos that we find ourselves in. And…. All of these innovations will become universally known in a short time rather than taking all the years it used to take to bring something to market.
