SMILING WITH HOPE

Politics is giving all of us an opportunity to look at things differently than we ever have before. Or as Eckhart Tolle says so eloquently, it takes us out of our comfort zone.  When we leave our safety net is when we start to take action that corresponds with our beliefs. This video from Eckhart gives us a few chuckles but also an opportunity to look at ourselves.

I was so impressed with the love that this man has for humanity, especially children.  I admit I could not do what he does; I would be a basket case.  The fact that he is a Libyan-born Muslim immigrant is not the point here. The point is that he is an immigrant who has given and continues to give to children regardless of their country of origin, their sex, or their parents’ monetary status or, for that matter, their illness. He gives the title “immigrant” a new meaning. Where would we be without immigrants? In a sense, we are all immigrants as we have all come from different countries with different cultures and skills. There are so many more “special” immigrants than the one rotten apple who attempts to spoil the rest of the batch.  Let us not allow that to be the case.

The news of this discovery makes my heart sing.  Just imagine the joy that this invention will bring to the “lost ones” and to their families.  HOPE is the word here and our world needs to know about it so this tool can be used.

How easy is it for you to contemplate your inner child?  This article will give you the freedom to BE your little child and will give you assurance that All Is Well.  I cannot remember when I learned to walk but I have watched my children learn to walk so this exercise brings me comfort today.

THOUGHT PROVOKING

As I send you this newsletter, I need to admit that I question the perfection of what is happening in my own life sometimes.  When I catch myself starting to complain about something, I try to change my focus and ponder what good will come of this episode. To be completely truthful, it happens more often than I like to admit. As for my handicapped knee, so far, the only reason I can find is that now I am more aware of the handicapped and the courage they represent. The path I thought I was on has changed and I still do not feel certain of what is in the future. I am definitely “learning” from all of it yet I need to acknowledge that I created all of this for some reason and then I have to surrender and say: “God, I don’t know why but use it to help someone else.”

Mother Nature has been giving us many reasons to ponder “Why”. With the advent of TV, we are able to hear about what is happening across our planet.  There is and has been a lot of chaos and destruction but have you noticed that compared to all the disasters, there have been fewer deaths than would be expected?  Earth is changing but she is trying very hard not to eliminate the human race. I cannot say the same thing for our political wars. I, for one, do not like watching all of the horror but at the same time, I see all the love and compassion that is surrounding the humans that have been affected.  There is more love, gratitude and assistance that are being born from all of this than any other emotion.  That is good news.

Why or why do we not believe in our own perfection?  What happens in our life is perfection in itself. You could not or would not subject yourself to all these tests and experiences if you did not have a Higher Self that knows what it is that you want to experience in this life time.

I would like to see these butt containers everywhere.  It is recycling at its best and keeps our land a lot cleaner.

Another way that humans are stepping up to help Mother Earth, it is called recycling which is the best way to conquer our “throw away” society.

Who would have thunk it?  My only question is, does it give off oxygen like the trees do?

This you have to see to believe.  What an eye opener for us humans who never thought that there would be “emotion” in a bee. I know I would not be able to let a bee land on my nose so I applaud her.

DOES AGE MATTER?

I celebrated my 80th birthday this past week.  Age has never meant much to me and I am truthful when asked my age but I had an AHA moment when I received a birthday card from a friend.  IT HAD A HUGE 80 RIGHT ON THE FRONT. When I read that, my immediate reaction was: “I am not that old, I do not feel that old, how can I be that old.”  Until I was faced with that fact in black and white, I had been in neutral.  See how much power the printed word or numbers have.  I was immediately sent back to my beliefs about being 80.  When do we make these beliefs in our minds?  Usually when we are children and to a child, 80 in soooo old.  Then we see our parents and grandparents age and the deep impression of what “old” is implanted in our brains. In our young minds, we will never get “that” old and we don’t worry about it because we are taking our youth for granted.

I have never had a birthday party so I decided I would throw one for myself with my immediate family.  I thought about having it catered but then my son reminded me of all the clean-up I would need to do afterwards. I decided to go to my favorite restaurant, Diane’s Villa Nova in Holland, Ma.  It is an Italian family run restaurant whose chef is very familiar with cooking Gluten Free meals as he needs to be gluten free also. I need to be GF and I have children, grandchildren and a great grandson who also need to be gluten free. Yet, all the “regular “eaters were captivated with their food also. I used my age as a good reason for us all to get together as it had been 15 years since we had all been together at the same time.

Diane had bought me a beautiful floral arrangement for our table and my granddaughter had brought me orchids.  The table was so full with us that we needed to put the flowers aside but they were beautiful. I even got serenaded by my family and a team of young basketball players who were having a party of their own.  My kids surprised me by hiring a friend of my granddaughter’s to take pictures of the occasion.  That was the best gift they could have given me as we are all going to receive a CD and we can have any or all of them printed out. I don’t have the CD yet but I am eager to see what it will show.  I really want a picture of all of us together that I can put up on the wall.

Why do so many of us humans put off getting together with our families except maybe for the holidays?  Is it because when we get together, there is still the competition, rivalry and jealousy that we felt as a child?  Let me tell you that when you get to my age, there is none of that. What is left is the joy in seeing yourself in the different ages that sit at your table and you remember just what it felt like when you were young and at that stage of life. No matter what drama is playing out, the feelings are still the same as when you were young. No matter what you think about the “times” we are in, so much remains the same.

Times are a-changing and with that, new developments are being made. Dementia and Alzheimer’s are right at the forefront of most symptoms of aging. My aunt and my mom had dementia and so I have personal experience of that torment but guess what?  A cure is on its way and this is just the beginning.  Hope is right here and  changes  are right around the corner.

With the Olympics hoopla going on, there is so much proof that age is not a factor.  A mom won a gold medal, how about that for change. I am so proud and full of hope for humanity when I see what the younger ones are doing. Here is proof again of what the younger generation is bringing to the whole planet.  Check this out and smile as these young ones bring so much joy and hope.
