BLESSINGS OF PASSOVER AND EASTER

Blessings to you on Passover and Easter.

This morning I saw the top of my kayak for the first time this year, the rest of it is still not visible. It has been hidden under quite a bit of snow but it is a symbol for me of the coming possibilities and joy of being free in the water: both the water of the lake and the waters of life. Can you ‘feel’ the freedom that is here now for you in this season?

This past weekend, there were quite a few families on the ice enjoying it while it lasted. It is difficult for me to believe that just 3 days ago, an ice fisherman was out on the lake even though the lake was starting to thaw around the edges. We had a couple of 60 degree days and there is now quite a bit of water at the edge and it feels like there will be no more ice fishing. It is a reminder to me to enjoy this moment because it too will be gone too quickly.

I am not sure just where I will be on Easter except that I will be the Lector for the 11:30am Mass.That is such a privilege for me. My favorite Mass of the whole year is the Easter Vigil, where all the lights are shut off and each attendee lights their candle. It is such an awe inspiring sight to behold all the candles being lit in the darkness and the stillness of anticipation. I will be at that Mass also with many people who come to celebrate with us just on the holidays. It is so wonderful to have an overflow of fellow human beings sharing in the celebration of the Light that comes after the darkness.

Holidays can be challenging for some of you, including me. Getting together with family for holidays can bring back some painful memories for those who have experienced rejection on such days. Most of the time, the hurt you experienced was not intended but it still hurt just the same. We humans do manipulate each other without realizing what we are actually doing. This is a tip for you to deal with manipulation. It is a good tool to remember, it is not just for family gatherings.

INSPIRATIONS AND INSIGHTS

Last Saturday morning as I awoke, I took a deep breath. Suddenly I realized that I had never breathed as deep as that. It was as if a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders and I could breathe again. What was that, I thought? I first thought it must have been because it has stopped snowing and the sun is melting the huge mountains of show. Then I was guided to dig deeper and I came to the knowing that the entire planet had just gone through a shift. The energies, unseen by human eyes, are coming in from above. We have hit a milestone in becoming a new humanity. I believe that the unseen force, LOVE, has finally surpassed the FEAR and we are all feeling it. I mentioned this to a few people and they all said that they too had felt that they could breathe so much deeper than before. Did that happen to you? Did you take that breath? Perhaps you were not aware of it but now that you are aware, you will remember that you also participated in the whole planet taking a huge breath of relief. Hooray for humanity, we have turned the corner.

I know many people are not aware of what Cursillo means and what my Cursillo retreat two weekends ago was all about. I was sent this link that explained it even further. I myself did not know that it encompasses all religions. Who knew?

Imagine playing sports for the fun of it? It would not matter who wins, it is just having fun and sharing the excitement with all who are involved with the sports, fans included. I believe that is what sportsmanship means.

IDES OF MARCH?

Do you feel it? Do you feel the release of heaviness? Do you feel the release of restraint? The air itself feels so much lighter this morning. It is as if a heavy load has been taken off our shoulders. I believe what I am feeling is that Spring is in the air and we have our freedom of movement back. It has been a long, long month which felt like it would never end. Or should I say, the wind and snow would never end. The cold we expect at this time of year but our nation has been forced to slow down, stay inside if we are lucky enough to still have our home standing, and to meet with our neighbors in a total different scenario. It was not picnics or barbecues; it was snow shoveling, pushing vehicles that were stuck or being stranded on the road with so many accidents. We NOW have quite a comparison between having all of our schedules turned upside down and following our daily routine. Even our food choices have changed. Either we could not get to the store to get our normal supply or when we finally got there, the transportation of the food had been interrupted so we needed to change our menus. Do you think that this has been an exercise for us to be more flexible? Is it easier to go with the flow now?

Last weekend I attended a woman’s Cursillo retreat that was very inspiriting (inspiring). 15 of the 116 females got up to share one of their stories with us. All the stories were different and shared a solution they had found to their particular challenge. One woman gave an example of” Letting Go-Letting God”. I was given an AHA moment as I realized that” Letting Go” only needed the “D” in Divine to change it to “Letting God”. When we accept the Divine then we are Letting God. There was a prayer group named “FROG” which stands for “Fully Rely on God”, that is their motto. Another beautiful woman talked about Freedom and said:” Commitment is the first exercise of Freedom. What are you attached to that enslaves you? When you make a commitment to yourself to Trust, you are truly free from any fear of loss?”

It was an incredible weekend, even the name tags where made from thin wood in the shape of a heart with our names in the middle and the phrase: “Putting on the heart of Christ” on one side of the curve and on the other side of the heart on the opposite curve was: “Who has God called me to be”? Each speaker had chosen a song which was copied onto a CD and given to each of us to take home. This retreat was held at a local hotel and we found out that some of the servers had personally requested to work that weekend as there is such powerful Love energy and much laughter at our gatherings. The cook was able to even feed my need for gluten free food and made a dessert with chocolate and vanilla mousse which was gluten free. I was in heaven. There was one male in our group, a little 5 month old baby boy whose mother was still nursing him. The ages were from 5 months to 93 years old within the group who attended. All ages are revered as each soul has something to give. I can still feel the love, the acceptance and the laughter.
