HAVE FAITH IN MOTHER NATURE

Beloved,

Humanity never ceases to amaze me and today really surprised me. I know our weather is unpredictable sometimes but this takes the cake.  I am looking forward to 60 degrees tomorrow as a little taste of Spring to come and today the ice and snow are melting in the streets and on the lake. Guess what I saw when I opened my drapes to the lake.  Yep, you guessed it.  Ice fishermen. I think they want at least one time on the ice before it melts back into a lake.  I know they have bore drills to see how much it is frozen but seeing them seems so out of context to the weather. At the end of November I had to be plowed out three times because of the snow so I was really dreading winter.  Yet, Mother Nature has given us snow that I love.  It snows at night, you get up in the morning and the snow starts to melt and is gone off your driveway and sidewalk in the wink of an eye. If that is how winter is, I won’t complain. No plows or shovels are necessary and yet we get the beautiful view of the snow on the trees and the grass.

Nature is so beautiful and so powerful.  Have you wanted to help those in Australia?  Here is a chance to hold hands with a huge group right from where you are. Please join in the prayerful energy that we are sending to Australia, its people, its animals and everyone affected by this.

Here is proof that there is still hope and Mother Nature cannot be stopped in her tracks. Keep encouraging her with your loving energy.

Today begins the eclipse and very powerful energy that you can use for yourself and the planet. Interested in knowing how?

Do you know anyone who suffers from dyslexia?  Please pass them this promising creation that will assist them in their disability.

The end of the eclipse series.  How appropriate with the eclipse being today.  Patricia Diane Cota Robles gives us info that will raise our spirits and our hope. Watch out world, here we come.

WHAT IS NEXT FOR US?

Beloved,

I had one theme I had wanted to present to you today but after reading several other articles, it changed.  It is a New Year after all so we are all entitled to new thoughts and ideas and also new practices. The first one is a daily meditation I receive (you can too) from a famous Franciscan priest. Fr. Richard Rohr https://cac.org.   To me, it is such an example of what we all wish our world to be that it felt very important to share with you.

A School for Love
Friday, January 3, 2020

Today, friend and CAC faculty member Brian McLaren continues describing the three shifts Christianity needs to make in order to be true to the vision and mission of Jesus the Christ. Yesterday Brian explained the importance of becoming (1) “decentralized and diverse.” Today, he describes the need to be (2) “radically collaborative” and to (3) “love as Jesus taught and embodied.” Rather than a top-heavy institution concerned about in-house salvation, the Christianity of the future will place love of God, neighbor, self, and all creation at the center. Brian writes:

The diverse and decentralized movement we need will be radically collaborative, working with, across, and, when necessary, outside of and in spite of existing institutions to seek the common good. It will not be anti-institutional because institutions are necessary for human survival, but neither will it be institutional, in the sense that it is preoccupied with its own survival or bringing benefits only to its members. Rather, it will be trans-institutional, working across institutions, both religious and non-religious, seeking the common good of those inside and outside the movement and the institutions it involves. . . .

The . . . most important aspect of this [new] form of Christianity in the future is simple, obvious, and yet radical: it is about love, as Jesus taught and embodied [emphasis mine—RR]. . . .

The New Testament makes it abundantly clear that Jesus was about love first and foremost, in word and deed. Jesus began with love for God, but inseparably linked that love with love for neighbor [1], with the understanding that neighbor includes the other, the outsider, the outcast, the last, the least, the lost, the disgraced, the dispossessed, and the enemy. This love for neighbor was, in turn, inextricably related to an appropriate love for self. In fact, to love neighbor as oneself leads to the realization that oneself and one’s neighbor are actually distinct yet inseparable realities. In today’s world, we must add that, for Jesus, God’s love extends to the wildflower, the meadow grass, the sparrow, and the raven. He saw all of God’s creatures as part of one heavenly realm, as did dear St. Francis, and as do more and more of us.

When I think of this [new] kind of Christianity of the future, then, I think of a movement of revolutionary love. I see it as distinctively Christian, but not in any exclusive way, because if we truly see love as Jesus’ point and passion, then the depth of our devotion to Christ will always lead us to love our Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, Indigenous, nonreligious, agnostic, atheist, and other neighbors as ourselves. . . .

In this desirable future, every willing Christian congregation makes every competing interest subsidiary to love, which is the fruit of all contemplation and the goal of all action. If we embody this [emergent] form of Christianity, . . .  if we become the seeds of a movement of contemplative activism in the Spirit of Christ, I can imagine hundreds of thousands of congregations, . . . each a locally and globally engaged school of love, teaching future generations to discover, practice, and live in love: love for our neighbor, love for ourselves, love for all creatures and all creation—all comprising love for God, who is all in all in all.

Things that make you smile is such a great way to begin this New Year of Newsletters.  I hope you enjoy them and allow yourself to smile. It was almost like de ja vue when all 3 of these reflected what Fr. Rohr has just finished sharing with me.

WHAT IS HAPPENING?

Beloved,

Hurray, Hurray, Hurray, I got my car back and it looks better than it did before it got a kiss from the deer. I was concerned that it would be totaled as it is a 2004 Toyota Rav 4 with only 143,000 miles.  It still has half of its life to go. I have been without it for 3 weeks and I learned from a 2019 rental of a Mitchubitshi with 3 rows of seats that I prefer my little Rav 4, that I like keys for my car and not the push button, I do not like the computer in the car, The stick shift is hard to manipulate although it is the control shaped like a stick shift, and it is not easy to park as either the front end or the back end sticks out. I did love the heated seats but missed my ability to preheat my car without leaving the house. The trunk was difficult to open and it had a much smaller trunk and also less window space to see out of the back. I am grateful for its heaviness and smooth ride and its ability in the snow yet my Rav 4 has that too.  Baldyga’s in Palmer, Ma is who got her back on the road and also surprised me with an extra gift I was not expecting.  I got in the car and realized that my windows were clean, all the dust on my console was gone. The inside of my car had been cleaned up for me.  What a Christmas gift that was. Of course, the outside was sparkly clean too.  How thorough they were.

I am late in sending this as when I got the call that my car was ready; I could not focus on this newsletter.  I was too excited and I knew you would understand and probably not care any way.

The energy on Earth is still so strong and there are many predictions of what is happening and why.  There are opportunities to transcend what has been troubling you and to enjoy the Holidays with more solutions to come.  Patricia Diane Cota Robles has a great meditation which is not too long that will ease many of our worries and concerns.  Here it is.

This is an idea, a message that needs to be spread all over the planet.

Perhaps this will start a trend which dogs and their owners will just love.

Wow, can you just imagine THIS.

Are we done with THIS yet?????

This is a video from Matt Kahn who is irreverently funny. I don’t know how he does it but his humor seems to bring truth to whatever he is speaking about.  And we all laugh.  What a way to learn…by laughing.  I know I mentioned him to you the other day and you were not aware of him so I thought I would give you a taste.  If you want to delete him, wait until you have laughed 3 times.  Sorry, you can delete him whenever you want, if you want.

I am always astounded by the inovations that we humans come up with.  What a great idea. Grief is relieved by hugging.
