WHAT DO YOU CHOOSE?

I am in a quandary right now because I know everyone is thinking about the upcoming election. I want to offer some simple truths or beliefs but I can’t find any. I treasure my freedom to vote and I wouldn’t give up that choice even when my stepchildren threatened to kill me and I was told that when I moved, I would have to reregister to vote with my new address which would then be public or I would not be allowed to cast my ballot. As frightened as I was that I would be found, I could not give away the very thing that makes our country great; the ability to cast a ballot and have a say so in my government. So many people died to give me that privilege and we women fought hard and long for that freedom, I just could not let their lives and efforts be in vain.

Something we seemed to have forgotten is that: “WE, THE PEOPLE” is you and I. We outnumber all the politicians and they would not have a job if we did not give it to them. We are that powerful. Why do we give that POWER away so freely and easily? We all are aware that money runs our country but did you ever think or realize that you vote every time you buy something. All the 1% considers is the bottom line which is profit. Are you aware that if we all decided not to buy something, say a brand of coffee, for instance, that they would be out of business. There would be no one to sell that product to so there would be no need for that company. From now on, when you pull out your wallet or credit card, be aware that you are VOTING for that product and whoever profits from that sale. Who or what are you blindly voting for and giving permission to run your life?

We all know that Congress is the real power behind our government and we voted them in. The only power the President has is the power to push that button to start a nuclear war without the Congressional approval. Whose thumb do you want on that button? I, for one, do not want any more of our husbands, sons, nephews, cousins or any male be made to go to war. Wait a minute; I forgot that females are in the armed services now so a draft would entail all eligible young men and women. Ladies, have we not had enough losses in our family? The newer generations have lost the awareness of what war is because it has not been in our country. They have no idea what a world that would be to live in. I know because I lived in the last World War and instead of butter we had lard in a tube in which we broke open a yellow capsule and proceeded to squish it until it was all yellow. That was our butter. Hey, younger ones, would you like to eat that? That was minor compared to missing our loved ones who were exposed to death every day. A nuclear war would take out all phones, computers, every convenience you can think of. What would you do then?

I am so adamant about voting because that is one choice no one can take away from you here in America, you can only refuse to choose and yet by not voting, you do choose. You choose to never be able to complain about our government or what is happening in the world. We are so fortunate to have this freedom while other parts of our world would give anything to have that precious choice. Wars are in existence right now so that the citizens can have what we already have. Do you want what they have or will you vote? When you go to the polls, seek deep in your heart not in your head for the right choice. You will know and feel which person is best and that goes for all the other votes you will pass besides the Presidential one.

Indian Summer has been great around here, I appreciate it more now because I know what is coming. The young men who do my lawn and plowing came yesterday and all the leaves are gone except for what the wind brings. I went out in my kayak yesterday but could not go around the whole lake because the wind came up and the water got choppy BUT I got to out on the water and feel the kayak moving me through the beginning of the waves. It is like being rocked in a cradle yet I only really enjoy it when I am in front of my beach because there I do not have to paddle through them. My kayak is not the last boat out there because there are still a few diehards like me that wait until the last minute to put our chariots away for the winter.

Actions such as this one are what make our country great. It also makes me smile instead of being angry.

ARE YOU A MIRROR?

Wow, these are powerful days. Starting 10/13/16; we will have 5 days of Geo-Magnetic Storms emanating from the sun… then a 5 day breather … and then 9 more days of Geo-Magnetic Storms. This explains a lot of what is happening within us and in our world. The full moon is included in this energy and it is full tomorrow night. Are your animals acting strange? Give yourself the gift of not getting upset at situations or people as these too will change.

I am so fortunate to live where I can see the water and all the beautiful trees resplendent in their fall colors. When I went kayaking, it felt like I had entered the world of Dorothy of Oz. The water was as still as glass so the beautiful colors were doubled as the water reflected all the houses and the beautiful background of fall trees in full bloom. I am used to seeing across the lake at the view there but in the kayak, I was able to see the opposite side, mine, in a rare view of mirrored beauty.

I don’t know if I can explain just how I felt when I came closer to the road that was at one end of the lake. It was like I was in a place where I could not rely on my vision as what I was seeing was in complete denial of reality. I could see the road, the bank of the lake and what appeared to be the top of the water. Yet, I could not make out where the lake water began or ended. It felt like I was gliding on what was not actually there according to my eyes. You know the expression: “Don’t believe everything you see.” It was a weird period of time where my rational mind and physical eyes were completely turned upside down. I actually kayaked very slowly to the edge of the lake as there appeared to be no water, just the trees and the road. ???? What a feeling of non-reality it is to not be able to trust what you are seeing.

As I was kayaking around the lake and enmeshed in the sound of quiet and the beauty of the colors that were being drawn out by the sun, I kept being drawn into the world of mirrors (water) where what you see is not actually real. Have you ever noticed that other people will mirror to you what you are feeling? What we see is actually in us but mirrored out to the world. No one can see in the world what they don’t have within them. If you see a quality in someone, it is because you have that same quality within you. You cannot see what you are not. When you receive a compliment it is because the other person recognizes in you the same gift or value that she/he has. When you are drawn to compliment someone, it is because you see in them what is in you so you acknowledge it. We are reflections of one another.

What an experience of my being able to see both the object and what was mirrored yet they appeared to be one. And… one was totally physical and the other was a mirror image that was not quite as perfectly formed as the original. Mirrors can distort reality where you shake your head in awe and then need to focus on which one is perfectly clear and which one is slightly blurred so the mind can decide which one is the real one. I can’t wait for the day when all of humanity is at peace within themselves so that is what is mirrored in the world. For now, find your peace and tolerance so that you may radiate that gift to the world.

The Iroquois people have lived in the northern areas around Ontario, Canada and upstate New York for well over 4,000 years. “Iroquois” actually refers to a language rather than a particular tribe, and prior to European colonization, the Iroquois consisted of at least five tribes.

The soup below is called “Three Sisters Harvest Vegetable Soup”, a name that holds much meaning. In many Native American cultures, the “three sisters” refer to corn, squash, and beans – three key crops that have been planted alongside one another for over 5,000 years in a technique called companion planting.

The “three sisters” support one another as they grow. The corn (or maize) provides a pole-like structure for the beans to crawl up, while the beans fertilize the soil beneath with nitrogen (a compound that the other two plants need in order to live). The third sister, squash, grows in clusters around the group and blots out most of the sunlight, preventing weeds from moving in on the dance.

Why can we not “companion” our crops so we will not need fertilizers and bug killers thus saving the human body from so many ills? What an example these Iroquois left us. Isn’t it about time that we look back and take the good and wise examples of our forebears? If you would like the recipe, just email me and I will send it to you.

A NEW PERSPECTIVE?

How have the energies been treating you? Circumstances have had me running at full speed and feeling like I don’t have enough time to get everything done that needs doing. Of course, as we all know if we just take a slow breath, all things seem to take care of themselves and in the right timing. Boy, they have been powerful and the eclipse yesterday set unusual events in motion. Have you noticed things happening that you would never expect or that do not make sense?

Yesterday, my cruise roommate and I met at a library with our computers so we could choose which activities we wanted to do both off ship and on board. We live an hour apart so this seemed simpler (huh?) than trying to do it over the phone which we had actually tried. She is much more computer savvy than I so is much quicker. Our computers connected to the WiFi and I got on the website with her guidance. She then tried to connect her computer and it just kept trying to connect to the same website I was on and we finally realized that it was not going to. My screen, on the other hand, which was on the website, would not allow me to rest at the top of the page. No matter what we did, it would fall to the bottom of the page and would not rest anywhere else. After a half hour, we finally gave up and I think it is because the website must have been down but who knows. This morning, my computer screen has a circle on it with writing telling me to TAP HERE and get a message about people I do not even know. ????? I am glad that it disappears when I get onto my email or a website, it is only there when I open it up.

Last night, when I got to the senior center to participate in my Pitch league card game, I reached for my purse. My bottle of water was sitting upright in it with no cap???? I know I filled it before I left home and put the cap on and sat it upright in my purse. What was going on? So I began to scour my purse for the cap and it was not in there. I could not find it anywhere and decided to bring my water with me being careful not to spill it. Then I reached for the $20 bill I had put in my shirt pocket and it was missing? I then started to laugh and giggle. My teammates were going by my car giving me strange looks. Here I was by myself and laughing for no reason. I opened my window and explained and they just shook their heads in bewilderment.

I decided to look one more time for the cap after I had stopped laughing and there it was. It had fallen between the seats. But who or what had unscrewed the cap so that it might fall there? And without spilling a drop of water anywhere? I started to giggle again, reached in my wallet for another $20 and got out of the car. When I turned back, there was a $20 bill sitting on my seat. How did that happen? Finally, I said to one of the card players laughingly that someone up there was having fun with me. We both shook our heads but I never got upset. In fact, it set the tone for the evening. Everyone one was in an especially good mood and there was a lot of laughing.

There are 6 tables with 4 players at each. Suddenly I looked at the table to my left and saw to my amazement that the two men sitting and playing cards at that table were bitter enemies. And not only that, they were partners, which of course they did not choose to be. We each pick a card numbered 1-6 to see which of the 6 tables we will be sitting at. We do not choose our partners or the other two players in all fairness. I looked at my partner who was aware of their feelings for each other and we had another chuckle. God or the Universe has a lot of fun with us humans and has quite a sense of humor. Don’t you think? And we think we are in control!
