I INVITE PEACE INTO MY LIFE

 Happy St. Patrick’s Day and let’s welcome Spring.

 Isn’t it coincidental that both of these days are so close together and they are represented by the same color?   The Green of the Shamrock and the Green of the awakening plants that we so long for at this time of year.

 Have you ever opened your mouth and then found out that you are the one that everyone is looking at to bring a remedy to the situation?  I have mellowed over the years and now enjoy letting the younger ones take over.  Yet, this was my senior group so I could not do it this time. There was a situation at our senior center which all of us seniors were very uncomfortable with and some downright angry.  For weeks, I had just listened although I was steaming also.  Last week, the straw broke the camel’s back and I exploded with such anger that it surprised me.  I told a fellow senior that I wanted to spit fire because that was actually what I was feeling. I went home but could not find peace; my mind would not shut out what happened so I called my Selectman.  I guess my voice must have shown how upset I was because when I asked to speak to him in person rather than on the phone, he came right over.  He was very kind and let me blow off steam. He had received complaints but no one wanted to sign their name to it. I did not care if my name was used.  I have set a standard for myself and it is: “I do not have the right to complain if I am not willing to put my name where my mouth is.”

 Now I needed to find out how to present this issue to the Selectmen, write a letter and get signatures to show that many of us have the same complaints. I am a newbie at doing this and the worst part is that my mind will not stop thinking of what to say and how to say it. I have written the letter four times as different seniors are expressing their views and complaints which I want to include because this is a group effort, not just mine.  I hope to present it this coming Tuesday to the Selectmen at their meeting which is televised.  Again I am a newbie at this so I will have to fly by the seat of my pants. I have outlined the problems and highlighted the questions. My intention is to read the letter aloud and let IT speak for all of us.

 This morning as I was saying my prayers, my mind kept wandering to the letter. Knowing I was going to read it instead of just handing it over, I am trying to keep it to 4 pages.  After spending time worrying and ruminating during my prayer time, I finally gave up.  I do not like feeling these feelings of anger and confusion of how to go about it.  I went to my computer to write this newsletter and Lee Harris’ email with this picture and words were in my inbox. They just melted into me.  I need to invite Peace into my life and this situation.  It affected me so much that I wanted to share this with you so you may feel the peace and let it be a reminder to you that we do have a choice.  I choose Peace.

I printed this out and will put it on my clipboard as a reminder when I go looking for the people who want to sign this letter.

PEACE ENERGY – This energy may also first show up as conflict, so that peace can be the end result. But for most, an energy of deep peace is being invited right now – so open to it.

PEACE AFFIRMATION: “I invite Peace into my life today. I invite Peace onto the planet today.”

FORGIVENESS AFFIRMATION: “I invite Peace to myself. I invite Peace to this situation.”

There is hope yet for humanity.  This gesture just fills all of our hearts and has created much peace wherever it is shown.

 Her wish was granted. Boy is found

 What a symbol of peace.  Can we use this as an example of what we can do?

NEW INVENTIONS & NEW PERSPECTIVES

 Our nation seems to be in turmoil with all the marches and opposition that we see shown by the media.  We do have Free speech which is a God given gift that is honored in our country.  I look at these marches not as an attempt at a military coup but as a way of expressing what we are passionate about.  Anita Moorjani gave a good talk on the reason behind the march being the most important reason for marching. Don’t stop marching for what you believe in but do it from Love not anger or fear.  March toward the solution, and away from hate. Anita Moorjani asks: Are you mistaking your anger for activism?

 See what a teacher invented for her students.  This is the hallmarkof a great teacher who is interested in ALL of her students.

 Have you ever considered your destiny?  Do you know what your fate is? Do you believe in synchronicity?  Can you deny that a Higher Power puts you in the right place at the right time? I often think about all the angels or helpers in heaven sitting around a huge table and attempting to move us to a certain place with certain people so a particular event could occur at a particular moment in time.  I don’t want that job.  We humans change our minds too quickly and yet miracles or events happen that seem to be other worldly.  Here is an example.

This article was a shocker for me.  I donate all my used clothing to the Salvation Army but never even considered the damage that clothing could do to our water.  Pride goeth before the Fall.  Well, I took pride in buying the bulk of my clothing from the Salvation Army and then when I was tired of the article of clothing, I would donate it back to them.  I really felt like I was being a considerate consumer for both myself and others.  I believe in being mindful of our environment and keeping it more natural as our planet was created to be. As you will see when you read this article. There is always something to learn if we are willing to be open to new ideas.

 I know this newsletter is a little later than usual.  Before I could sit down, clear my head and heart to write to you, I needed to make a call to PayPal on a dispute which would only take a few minutes and then I would be free.  You guessed it.  It did not take a few minutes but not with them specifically.  Automated voices answering my phone call really frustrate me as they take up so much time when if you could speak to another human, it would be handled much faster and more efficiently.  Have you ever felt that we humans are being programmed by robots?  That is what I feel like when it takes so many questions to get to a human.  I will now tell you my experience, I am sure you will relate to it and I want to give you some info that I did not know so that at least a small part of your day might be made easier if this ever happens to you.

 I called PayPal and the robot finally asked me for the last four digits of my charge card that was used and just to be sure I would give it the right info, I went into the kitchen to get my charge card.?????? I could not find it.so I finally hung up from the robot call.  First, I looked through my whole wallet and then emptied my purse, then walked around the house in case I had laid it down somewhere. Then I went to my winter coat to check pockets and then to my closets to check clothes I had worn recently.  I even went out to my car to see if it had slipped out of my pocket while I was getting in or out.

 I came back in the house and tried to remember the last time I used it.  I tried to remember where I had gone the last few days and what I had charged.  Finally, I remembered St. Anthony.  He is the Saint who finds lost things or people when he is asked.  I have not lost anything lately and I used to use him faithfully because I always seemed to misplace things. So this time,  he was not the first one I thought of.  I asked him to help me find my charge card.  Now, most times the item is not found right away but sometimes it is almost instantaneously.  He has a way of guiding us to think or go to a place where the next clue is.  It is actually more like a hunt where clues are left for you to find.

 Then I thought of checking my account on line to see when I used it last and perhaps my full charge card number would be on line under my account.  No such luck, only the last 4 digits are used. But I found out that the last time I used it was Wednesday at Ocean State Job lot. Yet, no one else had used it so I felt encouraged.   Then I tried to retrace my steps from that time on.  I did not have a need to use the card and that was the actual last time I saw it.  While I was online in my account, somehow I was led to a page that offered me to LOCK my card.  I had not known about that feature before but I locked it, grateful for the opportunity to do something so no one could use my card.  This is a good tip for you in case you ever misplace your card.  You know how difficult it is to start with a new card so I wanted to make absolutely sure it was lost before I called my card company to cancel it and get a new one.

 I emptied my wallet 3x, my purse 3x, my clothing 3x and I finally surrendered.  Three is a very powerful number so after all of that I gave up.  I was putting my things back in my wallet when I discovered a pocket that I had not known was there.  THERE WAS MY CHARGE CARD. Thank you, St. Anthony.  Another tip for you, call on St. Anthony any time you need to locate something or someone.  He is great and you will laugh, as I am doing now, after he completes the mission you asked him to do.  It seems I had slid the card in at the wrong end of my wallet so there it lay hidden.  Another tip is to write down the FULL numbers on your cards and put it in a safe place so you will know what they are when you need to know.  I still am in awe that there was no way to find out the number.  I even used the live help button on my charge card’s website but all he could tell me, was that he could mail me that number in 24 to 48 hours.  It is much easier if you have it written down somewhere.  Yes, I made the call to PayPal and it took only a few minutes to get everything resolved.  Thank you Robot caller for making me aware of my missing card while I was still home and not out trying to buy something.  There is a teaching and a reason for gratitude in all events that come into our lives.
