SO MANY INSIGHTS

Beloved,

Summer has jumped right over Spring although Spring has not given up quite yet.  The last two days were 91 degrees here in the Northeast.  I love it and have gone out in my kayak a couple of times.  Hardly any boats are out or moored yet so there is still a lot of activity to come.  The wind has been having fun and I usually avoid going out in my kayak unless it calms down. Yesterday was just so beautiful that I put my kayak in the water anyway.  I usually go all around the lake but I just stayed close to the shore and let the waves rock me as the wind pushed me around.  It was different but change is good. The water feels cold to me and yet a woman has come the last two evenings to bathe and swim in it.  My four mermaids have not started their morning journeys yet, but I know they are right around the corner. Both the hummingbird and the Baltimore Oriole showed up yesterday so I put out their feeders this morning before I sat down to write this newsletter. My son is coming over this morning to put in my screens and then I will be able to hear the birds and still keep the bugs out.

This article by Gillian Macbeth seems to fit right in to show our gratitude for Mother Nature. There are a lot of mind openings in this short note.

Lee Harris May energy update. MENTAL UPGRADES, JOY AND SYNCHRONICITY

 https://www.leeharrisenergy.com/p/may-2018-energy-update

This video is quite the reminder of how difficult it is to set boundaries.  Of course, it is easy with people we are not crazy about but to set boundaries with the ones we love is quite challenging.

This article really touched me and I don’t know who I am proudest of.  The Math Teacher who took the time to help a fellow human or the man who was willing to be vulnerable in order to help his child.  They are both heroes in my eyes and maybe someone will recognize the professor so he can be properly recognized.  Help this go viral. I don’t know how to do that but I am sure you do.

A Gift for You to Share

Do you know someone you’d like to introduce to Richard Rohr or who is seeking freedom from negative thoughts and unhealthy attachments? Invite a friend to listen to one of Fr. Richard’s classic, introductory talks, “Emotional Sobriety,” by sharing this link: https://cac.org/emotional-sobriety-gift/  I had not heard this before and when I did, I was so amazed at the insights he presents and with humor too.  What impressed me the most was how most of us have absorbed thoughts from others when we were too young to discriminate or understand….and we are still replaying them in our mind.

WHICH DO YOU CHOOSE?

Beloved,

Does it seem possible or even feel possible that this is the last weekend of August. Some of our children are already back in school. When I was a kid, it felt like summer went by in a twinkling of an eye and this summer feels the same. Maybe I am going through my second or third childhood? The change of the seasons is a reminder to me that I do not like change except when spring comes.

I am still jumping in the lake for a swim and a cool down. I know next weekend, the beach will start to be cleaned up, giving up its raft for the kids to swim to. The flotations will be removed which keep the boats at bay, away from the swimmers. In one week it will start to feel like fall is here and I am not ready. At least the dock will stay out for at least another month, I hope. The hummingbirds are fattening up for their yearly trek so my feeders are quite busy, at least for another week or two. Most of the birds born this year are now becoming teenagers and learning to fend for themselves. The golden finches are the last to mate and the last to grow up; they are still chasing the parents with their mouths open and chirping up a storm. Of course, they do not migrate so they still have more time to grow up.

The regular ducks have become regular visitors to my beach. I so enjoy watching them and I have missed seeing their babies when they were little, maybe next year. There is one little tree across the lake which is always the first to turn colors and it has already started. This little tree stands out and is quite a marker. All of this is a reminder for me to really appreciate and enjoy what is here now, right in this moment. I really do try to remind myself to be right here, right now.

I know this is the time of feminine power as shown even in our politics and even the Catholic Church. Yet this article shows just what disaster can bring about. The rising populace of peace keeping is now becoming female.

Two dichotomies, two polar opposites. We are, after all, a planet of dualities. This is a nice reminder that we actually have choice.

What an inspiration this town is for our planet, such solidarity among neighbors who thought only of their neighbors and did something about it. One thing that hatred does not realize is that its actions bring MORE love to the planet, not less. When I see the workings of the people who do such dastardly deeds, I see only the LOVE that it brings out among so many other people. Their deeds bring more love to the planet which is the opposite of what they are trying to do with their hate filled actions.

This really inspired me. I thought of all the beautiful moments that I have experienced and wished I had taken pictures of for me to look at when I would feel blue. With the phones today, (I only have a flip top cell phone) it is so easy to carry your own inspiration with you wherever you go. Keep clicking.

This was cute and funny and displays what police are called to do in their daily lives.

MEANING OF WESAK AND OTHER JEWELS

Beloved,

Are you enjoying the warmer weather? I AM. Of course the grass is growing faster but while you are outside clearing it, you hear a symphony of bird songs. I love that the sun sets later. I don’t always see the sunset because it moves behind the trees for 8 months of the year but I Am enjoying it now. In fact, I try not to be anywhere at sunset time because the sun shines in my windows, it even goes across my bed and lights up my bedroom. The sun comes in my kitchen every day that it is out but only in late spring and summer does it come in on the other side of the house. If I am unable to sit to enjoy it, my breath gets a little lighter every time I pass by the windows as it just seems to light up not only my home but my mood. A reminder to me to stay in this moment as that is all there is.

I have solved the problem of the squirrels eating the grape jelly by moving one of the feeders to a pole where I have sprayed PAM which makes it too slippery for the critter to climb up. I have another feeder hanging from the tree on a shepherd’s hook so I sprayed just the top part of it to see if it would work. The squirrel just slid right down onto the feeder and started to eat. I ran out, made a lot of noise and then started to laugh as he kept trying to climb back up the pole to the tree branch but failing. He finally gave up and just jumped off the feeder to the ground. I think he got the message because he has not come back. I don’t want to hurt the squirrels but they eat so much that I cannot keep up with the feeders. In fact, I was going out to fill both of them three times a day until one of my friends mentioned that she cuts an orange in half and puts it on the hook and when the Orioles eat the inside of the orange, it leaves a cup for more jelly. Now I only need to go out maybe twice a day. I thought those of you who might be feeding Orioles would like that tip. Even if you don’t have a feeder, you can put a half orange on a hook and use it that way. The Orioles are here for such a short time, maybe 3 months until the babies are strong enough to fly with them on their journey back.

Can you tell that I am a warm weather lover? I don’t want to ignore the hummingbirds as they are such a delight. They are here also and I have three feeders for them. This spring has been different with the birds and the squirrels. It seems they are hungrier than usual. I don’t know if our unusually warm winter did something to their food supply. The only thing I can figure out is that because the spring was much colder, the bugs were not out which is a food supply for the birds especially. Thank God for the birds that eat so many of the bugs that irritate us, especially the bats. They are the experts and eat the most especially mosquitoes and most people have fear of them because they are not aware of the gift they give us.

It is this time of the year where there are more humane stories of rescue. The single mother goose on my lake has joined with another family of geese. I have not seen them for four days but I am sure they will be around. Nature takes care of its own.

Abraham has quite a message for us. Listen.

I have only seen one swan on the lake since I have been here but I was not aware that they present a problem to the geese. Perhaps it is only the black swans. Do you know?
