WANT TO BE FLABBERGASTED?

My desire is that your Halloween was joyful and safe. Did you trick
or treat? Did anyone tell you that Halloween was for kids? So what,
you are a child at heart, at least I hope so. I believe to really
feel joy, it comes from the child in us. Pure unadulterated joy.

The weather has been cloudy and rainy. Yesterday, I went to the beach
to take my kayak out for a spin when the wind suddenly came up and I
decided it was too windy to go out. I was a little disappointed
like a child would be but I came back in. The phone suddenly rang
and it was the hospital staff needing me to fax some very important
information about my chemical sensitivities so they could schedule
an appt with dermatology to give me a couple of skin patch tests
before my knee replacement in a month. I do not have a fax so I went
to the Senior Center where they sent it for me. Had I not come back
in from the possibility of kayaking, it would have been too late for
me to fax them as the Senior Center would have been closed until
Monday. I felt joyful as I realized that I had been taken care of
again by the angels, universe, and Source (God). All I had to do
was listen to the guidance I was sent by the wind. Even Mother Nature
was in on this.

I wish to share with you a video about time lapse photography on
flowers. AS with life, it is only in hindsight that the beauty of
the moment shows.

Flowers are reminders to me of humanity. Each one is unique, displays
various colors, needs different growing conditions, faces surroundings
that are different, yet are so beautiful and awe inspiring just by
BEING. Is that why we are called a human BEING? OR is it because
we are at our best being and not DOING.

Living on the lake is different every day. Although no one is
about because of the time of year and the weather, the water
continues to inspire me. I was doing mundane housework when I looked
up and saw the lake with a wake that looked like it was from a huge
cruiseship????? I went to the bow window and stood there gaping in
awe. The wind was coming from a direction that I have never seen it
come from. Instead of the waves coming in to crash on the shore,
they (the waves) were being drawn from the shore and sent into the
middle of the lake. It had to be the wind as there was no boat or
anything else on the water. I have seen wind before as it causes
white caps but this time, the white caps were going in the opposite
direction. The weather man had predicted winds from 40 to up to 50
miles per hour but had not said anything about the direction or if
he did, it just did not register with me. The wind was also blowing
lengthwise down the lake instead of across the lake. It was a sight
to behold and of course, then a torrent of rain descended upon my
windows which blocked some of the view. The power and versatility
of Mother Nature continues to have me gape like a child at something
so new that I had not known before. My hope is that you also receive
these awe inspiring moments from where ever they come. Be open
to being like a child and you will see more and more moments of being
flabbergasted. Oh, the joy of seeing the world through the eyes of
a child .

I hope this professor is still showing our next generation, these
truths. It is a good reminder to us all.

As a child, we were so curious. A flower, a blade of grass, an ant
etc. would keep us mesmarized and questioning life for hours. Take
a look at this child’s face and notice how IN THE MOMENT he is.
That is the secret for all of us. Live in the moment and the future
will take card of itself. Let’s hope that the US will change its
policy and allow for the curiosity and spontaneity of a child.
They are our teachers.

they are protected and guided by a felt but unseen force of Life, no
matter what name we call IT.

GUARDIANSHIP, UNCONTROLLABLE LAUGHTER

Hooray, the sun is out and is so beautiful, it just lifts my heart.
My lake had gone down some, exposing the dock again which had been
enveloped by the high water table. Then it began to rain again
which swelled the water table back up again. I was on the phone
this morning and said to the person that I was so happy that it
finally stopped raining and she said how her children were so happy
it rained when they were visiting some friends as they got to run
around in the rain and enjoyed it so much. Guess where she lives?
Yep, you guessed it. Arizona! It goes to show it is only a matter
of perspective. Sometimes abundance in any form gets to be pretty
boring. I guess we humans like to have change to stimulate our
gratitude as we can quickly take what and who we love for granted.

I am not sure if I have mentioned about the Canadian geese that are
here for 9 months out of the year. They are beautiful creatures but
they have one trait that is not desirable. They poop all over the
beach which is not conducive to cleanliness as the children play in
the sand and everyone needs to walk on it in order to enjoy the
water. We also need to get the water tested per the Health Department
regularly to check for any bacteria that would be detrimental to
human health. The geese excrement has caused shutdowns because
of the high level of bacteria. Since I am the the one closest to
the beach, I label myself the goose patrol but I am not here all the
time and I swear they know when I am gone because when I return and
they see my car coming down the street they vamoose.

I would like to relate something about the geese that I never realized
before, in fact, I never knew it until this year. The eggs have
hatched and the little goslings are growing rapidly. Usually the
parents are very protective and will not allow another goose to come
too close to their family. This year there are two families of geese.
One pair had 7 babies and a couple of weeks later another pair had
3 babies. The two families would hang around together which I thought
was unusual and then one morning I woke up to find only three adults
and 10 babies. I cannot tell which of the geese are the male or
female, all I know is that the parents of the 7 babies was allowing
the single parent of 3 to still hang around with their family.

That was not the usual way that they would behave. Yesterday, I
noticed the families and I was counting the babies to see how many
survived and all I could see where the older 7 and yet there were
3 adults???? I got my binoculars out to see what was going on and
my heart leapt. The three younger goslings were each closely knit
to an older gosling so I could not really see them until I looked
through the binoculars. It was like the 7 older goslings decided to
take the 3 younger goslings under their wings, so to speak, and were
protecting them. What a beautiful sight to behold. In the 17 years I
have been here, I have never seen the geese act like this. Is this
an omen that if the geese can do it, then humans will do it? Imagine
a world where the older children would take the younger ones under
their wings and protect them rather than bullying them and a single
parent would be adopted by a couple. That would be heaven would it
not?

We all watch television and it is a great educational tool but this
story hit home about how little I know. I live on a lake and I
was never aware that someone drowning would not be flailing about or
yelling for help. Would you know how to tell? The way to tell is
so contrary to what I believed. I figured if I did not know how then
perhaps you don’t know how either. Perhaps you and I could save a
life just by watching this video and I know being on a lake, I feel
more responsibility to know how. My heart goes out to a parent that
does not realize their child is in trouble even when they are close
by.

FREEDOM

I woke up one morning and as usual, spent some time gazing at the
lake to get my daily dose of tranquility. I noticed a lot of white
things on the lake and could not figure out what they were. I even
used my binoculars, which are always handy, and I still could not
make out what they were. I couldn’t get close enough to see clearly.

I watched as they appeared to get closer to the shore although the
whole lake had white things on it. I said my prayers and meditation,
then looked out again and sure enough they were close enough I felt
to physically go out to see what they were. I brought my binoculars
with me just in case. I walked through the gate (this is not my
beach, it belongs to a private beach club) across the beach and onto
the dock.

I noticed as I was walking on the beach that there were some white
feathers on the shoreline but since that is where the ducks and geese
preen themselves, that was not unusual. As I got to the dock, where
rope holding the buoys so no boat gets too close to the raft and
swimming area was, there were many white feathers hanging on
to the rope. ????? I was completely puzzled about the amount of
feathers. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that
these feathers were all completely white which is not normally what
we see around the lake.

Canadian geese and local ducks might have white on them but the
feathers are not “completely” white. There is always some grey
brown, or black coloring on each feather. As I continued to scan
the lake which had different amounts of white things bobbing around,
I suddenly realized that these feathers were down like in a down
blanket. Suddenly I started laughing out loud. The only solution
to this dilemma was that someone had a pillow fight using down
pillows and one of them broke spewing the feathers everywhere. Just
the picturing of that made me laugh and then giggle.

I never know what the lake will offer me but this had human hands
involved and in 16 years, I had never seen anything like that. I
wonder what meaning the feathers held for me. When something
unusual happens or something unusual shows up, it is a gift for
you. It is a way that the universe or the Divine is speaking to
you.

I came up with a few meanings: feathers are from creatures that
have wings…maybe my angel wings are sprouting, maybe the white
feathers were from a white angel’s wing (after all, I see many angel
clouds in the sky), maybe my ideas and wishes are taking flight to
completion. Our Indigenous people or Native Americans use feathers
for many things, perhaps my Native American heritage is coming to
the forefront. They really were and are quite wise beings that
we could gain a lot of wisdom from especially the medicine man or
woman.

Pay attention when something shows up that is unusual, even an
animal running across the street in front of you or a bird comes to
your window or an unusual insect shows up. All of this
has meaning and it is fun to try to decipher it. If you ponder
long enough, your heart will reveal the true meaning. Or….you
can have fun fantasizing just like you did as a child.

For me, I am going to choose that all of these feathers belonged
to angels and they were showering them upon me like blessings. I have
always wanted to fly so now that my angel wings are sprouting, it
won’t be long now before I take off into Freedom.

What represents Freedom for you?

Think about it and mark them down on a piece of paper. Keep that
paper where you will see it so you can claim your freedom again and
again! Practice feeling free and you will become aware that you
are free. You always have a choice, which one are you choosing?

This is an incredible story with breathtaking photography.
These birds symbolize real freedom to me but I always feel such joy
in just watching them. Enjoy!
