Happy Hanukah!
Wales, where I live, had 11 inches of snow this past weekend. The neighbor that usually gets the plow man did not do it and did not let us know that it would not be done.. He had a new snow blower so he did his driveway but not the street. The men who plow my driveway always wait for the street to be plowed so they can come and plow. I called them and they said they would try to get me out but were unable to do the street only my driveway. Then the three cars that belong to my neighbor went out the street several times leaving behind deep ruts of snow that froze and could not be plowed. Imagine you trying to run your car over 11 inch ruts to get out of your own street. We live on a private street so the town does not plow or take care of our street. I stayed in the house for two days and decided to try to solve another problem I was having.
I then called the company, Leader Basement, which takes care of my sup pump which they installed because of water in my crawl space. I value and trust this company. One Christmas day, my pump stopped working and the owner would not call out his men on a holiday to do repair work but he came himself. I know just how honest and trustworthy he is and thus his company is also trustworthy. We had freezing temperatures so the snow was not melting. I was looking for someone who could solve another problem I was having as another neighbor raised the street in front of their house thus forcing all the water coming down the hill into my yard and driveway. I knew if he could not fix it, he would know someone who could. He recommended an excavator, Matt LaCroix, whom he trusted to see if he could help me.
Over the phone, I told him just how much snow I had and that he probably could not tell from looking just what my land needed. One of his calls cancelled so he called me and asked if he could come and take a look anyway. He said he would hook up his plow just in case he could help me with my problem on the street. Mind you he lives in Webster, Ma which is quite a ways from me. He came and of course he could not really tell much but at least he has a lay of my land so when the snow does melt, he will have a better idea of what can be done. He plowed my street and thus unlocked me from being house bound. He did not charge me for either the visit or the plowing. Wouldn’t you say that what he did was an unexpected kindness? I am so grateful for the people who show up when I need help. I know that these people are angels in human form. I am blown away by the care and concern of these people who have nothing to gain by helping me. Let’s celebrate these people who help others.
What would you do if you had an unexpected visitor for the holidays? I hope you see it before your child does or the child will already be giving it a cuddly hug.
Here is a different experience that was caused from the Covid experience. There is so much kindness going on in the WORLD because of this virus that we are not aware of; even in our own back yard. Take a minute to bathe in the sweetness.

Here is example of kindness that was unexpected. With the rules of Covid governing our whole planet, the help comes from unusual places and for unusual reasons.
