A NEW PERSPECTIVE

Beloved,

The saga with my vision continues still. I decided that
I would go back to wearing glasses full time instead of
having a multitude of readers of various strengths laying
about including in my bathroom because I could not see
the lines in some of the measuring devices.

I felt like a complainer at the highest level. I know so many
people who are ecstatic after their surgery because they can
see so much clearer. Many do not need “readers” and the
ones that do don’t seem to mind that they need them to read.
I, on the other hand, feel so helpless when I cannot read, see
close or even do my nails. With the help of my glasses, I
had a complete roundabout vision. I could see far and near
with glasses and if I really needed to see closer, I would lift
my glasses and look at whatever it was without them.

I have worn glasses for at least 65 years so not seeing in the
distance without glasses did not affect my immediate world.
It only affected me if I wanted to drive a car and to see the
street signs and my glasses helped with that so I was all set.
I took my type of vision for granted. I had a choice of either
having better far vision or close vision. I chose the far
vision because I had never seen far before without
glasses and I wanted to experience it. Boy, did I goof.
I did not do enough research before such a radical step.

Then…..my life turned upside down, in complete reversal.
I suggest anyone who is having cataract surgery to make
a concerted effort to be completely aware of just how much
they look at that which is close. I was never aware of just how
many times I needed my close vision to maneuver around
my home and my daily life. From reading a recipe, knitting,
interpreting a label, seeing if I have sleep in the corner of
my eyes, did I have dirty fingernails,I could not see to
pull the splinter out of my finger, even charging my cell
phone: I could not see to plug in the charger. Reading
prescription labels was a problem, going grocery shopping
and reading the ingredients or trying to read price tags had
me squinting and then having to ask someone to help me. It
also took me much longer to shop.

I could not tell the markings on a measuring cup for my
daily breakfast of oatmeal or even make phone calls as
I could not see the numbers. I went out and bought a
new phone with larger numbers, also an outdoor
thermometer with large numbers so I could see
the temp without glasses as it is usually 5 degrees
colder here than the weatherman says.

It seemed every where I looked in my daily life I
could not read what I needed to so that was when
I made the decision to go back to wearing glasses
full time. It was suggested that I get Progressive
lenses as that is what I wore before the cataract
surgery. I got the Progressive lenses in my new
glasses and was assured that I would “get used
to them”. Well, guess what…I tried so hard to
see but the only time I could wear them was
when I was watching TV as I was not moving
my head or walking around. I was beginning to
think it was all in my head. Have you ever felt
like that? I felt like a whiner and complainer but
that did not alter the fact that I was spacey,
sick to my stomach and off balance.

I need to compliment WalMart because they
took back the glasses and their optician gave
me a lot of hope as she said many people
have that problem. How come we only
hear about the ones that can see good and
not the ones that can’t? At least, that is what
it seemed like to me. The Optician suggested
trifocals which I had worn about 15 years ago
and did well with until I switched to progressives.

Guess what? I was anxious as I went to get my
“new” glasses but I could actually see with these
trifocals. Sure I could see the lines but after
all my years of experience I know that my
brain will eventually stop seeing them. And…
it was the same prescription. GO FIGURE!

Throughout this whole ordeal, I became aware
of a deep appreciation for the vision I had
before and now for my new vision. MY
PERSPECTIVE HAD CHANGED and that
is so valuable. To be able to “see” differently
gives you a whole new perspective as well as
a whole new world. I am much more aware
of the intricate balance of viewing the world,
my world and the outer world. I need to have
more patience with myself as well as others
who see things differently from me. I know I
am much harder on myself, judging myself
much harsher than others. I was upset because
I did not want to complain to the ones who
could help me but if I didn’t, they would not
know that I needed something different. I had
expected a much different outcome and was
disappointed in myself that I did not achieve it.
Does that sound familiar to you? Have you
ever felt that way?

Let me make a pact with you . I will be a lot
softer with myself if you will be softer with
yourself. I will love myself a lot more if you will
love yourself more. I will be more patient with
myself if you will be more patient with yourself.
What a wonderful world this would be if we
all did the above. Love would be flowing
so easily from one to the other that our whole
planet would be at peace .

Here is something that I tried to figure out while
it was being created but I failed.
Again, perspective is everything as I saw
different things right up to the end.
See how you do.

THIS IS AWESOME!!!!
I guarantee you will watch spell-bound until the last
drop of paint is put in place. When you think it is
over…there is more.
Make sure your sound is turned up

TRUST AND GENEROSITY OF WEALTH AND SPIRIT

Beloved,

Are you as sick of all these shenanigans happening
in Congress as I am? These officials we elected are
acting like hummingbirds protecting a sugar water
feeder, afraid that there is not enough for everyone
so he is stands guard, all puffed up. As soon as he
leaves, he can’t stand guard every minute, another
hummingbird or even several of them swoop down
and feed.

I am waiting for a Congressman to stand up and say
he understands how much special interests are draining
our finances and he will give up his special interests to
lower the all consuming debt of America. I am surprised
that no one has suggested that we do away with both
parties. That way we could vote for the person him/herself
It certainly would solve a lot of the dilemma
the congress seems to find themselves in. It would also
do away with the special interests that they have to cater
to so they can pay back the companies who paid for
their bid for Congress. If all our officials in Congress would
give up only a little of what they are asking seniors and
the poor to give up, there would be no problems in
passing the budget.

I realize the news media needs to give everything
coverage but what they are creating is a lot of fear.
Another thing they are doing is giving the American
people the opportunity to see how our government
works and how foolish these adults are acting. I have
lost any faith in the integrity of our leaders who are
hanging on to all they have and the unwillingness to
give even a little to others. I, for one, do not want
to give them another opportunity to waste all this
time and finances in six months just so they can strut
around trying to look important yet actually looking
quite foolish and self centered.

WHAT YOU RESIST PERSISTS

Have you heard the espression: WHAT YOU RESIST PERSISTS!

Well, I am trying real hard not to resist the opportunities that
all this snow presents to me. I am laughing now as I realize
that as I write the above sentence that I am resisting resisting.
What a paradox?

Since I last wrote you about the 3 and a half feet of snow my
town received last week, we have had two more storms and
one with the dreaded ice that coated everything. The schools
were closed as well as town offices but guess who was not
closed? Surprise….The Post Office. I had one friend tell
me that she did not know how she was going to get out of
her house when all of sudden the Postman showed up and
asked if she had a shovel. He shoveled her sidewalk and
steps. That is above the call of duty.

That is one thing I am grateful for, the concern that is given
to others when a storm of any kind shows up and things are
out of the norm. Aren’t people wonderful?

Another thing that snow reminds me of is the people
in the world who are having a real tough time right now.
The homeless especially but how about the people who
do not have money for food, books or medicine for their
spouse or children? Would you like to help banish
hunger, breast cancer, child health, literacy, the rainforest,
animal rescue with just a click of your mouse?

http://www.thehungersite.com is a website that offers all
of these opportunities. Sponsors offer to help all these
people whenever you click. Each click is counted and
goes toward the sponsor’s donation. You can help
people all over the world and it takes just a minute
of your time. They will send you a reminder if you
ask them to. I search for that email the first thing
in the morning so I can click before I forget.

Since all I can think of is snow and that is all I see out my
window as I sit here writing to you, I will not bore you any
further with “snow” stories.

I want to share a special HeavenLetter with you. Know
that you are THAT STAR and THAT SPECIAL.

HEAVEN #3703 Your Star in the Sky, January 14, 2011

God said:
There are two ways to take life. One is very seriously, and
the other is without attachment. I bet you never thought of the
opposite of serious as without attachment. That’s what taking
life seriously is about however – attachment to it. That is when
life becomes very serious, all serious. Perhaps another way to
say seriously is to say tensely. Holding onto an idea of what life
must be and what it must look like is attachment, and bound to
bring tension.
Life does not have to be like a wild safari fraught with danger.
Life can be a ride up and down the river of life. It can even be
paddling in a canoe, or sailing on a paper sail boat. It can be a
whistle while you walk in the park of life where there is much
mingling and activity, yet still the walk an amble.

Adapt an ambience to life. Give life all you’ve got at the same
time as you let it be, waterfalls and changing weather, and varied
terrains. As you walk through life, you don’t race. You don’t drag
your feet. And when you stumble, you simply set off again on this
blessed unknown journey.
Have you had the idea that the journey you are on must be
proscribed? The journey you are on is the journey you are on.
It is a unique never traveled before journey, and it is yours.
It is no one else’s. It is yours. It is bound to have surprises
and unknown turns. Life cannot be known until the moment
it appears. You are a traveler on the road of life, and yet you
are not a wayward traveler. You are on the journey you set
out for. Regardless of its twists and turns, you are on your journey
.
You don’t have all the say of it. There are too many factors in
this life on Earth for you to have a designated map. However,
at any turn in the road, life can change in a flash, and you can
decide much of the turn. You can welcome life, or block it, or
fuss about etc. to whichever degree you choose. You have been
doing that right along, and now, today, you can welcome what
life offers you. You can lean in the direction you want to go.

It is not necessarily that you are exactly ready for all that life holds,
yet you can welcome the known and the unknown just the same.
Are not the known and unknown the elements that make up life?
It is as if you have two reins in your hand, and you do not hold
on more tightly to one rein than you do the other. Hold the reins
lightly, beloveds. You and life can be affable. You can get along
good-naturedly.

Let go of resistance, and follow your star in the sky. You have a
star. It is there. Even when you don’t know which star is yours,
it is there beckoning you. Certainly, your star could be any number
of bright sparkling stars, yet one is yours.

The stars are calling to your heart. Your star pulls you along
sometimes as if you were a sled, and sometimes your star lets
you race uphill and downhill. You have your own route.
Consider your star the energy of life that holds you firm and
also lets go of you. There is the Will of the Universe, and
there is your free will, and sooner or later the twain will meet.

You will enter into a divine route where only love exists and
you soar. It is inevitable that you come to this path and stay
on it. No longer do you vacillate. You will reach up to the
stars, and the stars will swing you as in an embrace, and
you will sail through the galaxies right to where you want
to be and always were before you got caught up in the
illusory changeable and forgot.
