OBSESSED WITH HELPING – UNDER THE ICE(VIDEO)

Beloved,

This past week I have been concerned (obsessed)
with a little Hooded Merganser affectionately called
a “Hoodie”. Sunday he appeared on Lake George,
my lake and he was all alone. Hoodies use my lake as
a feeding ground in the Spring migrating from the
south to here and then in the fall on their way back
to the south.

They are my favorite migratory duck as they are
of smaller stature and the male has a white hood
on his head which looks like a fan we use to fan
ourselves. They certainly stand out with their
white fans above a black and white body. They
are divers and it is so much fun to watch them
disappear under water only to appear further
down the water. I finally verified for myself
that they are not eating the “weeds” but actually
feeding on fish.I have good binoculars and I can see
across the lake at the houses, etc. but not for details
that need close up shots.

This fall the hoodies stayed for a month. I so enjoyed
them and they only left when the lake was beginning
to freeze over. We have had an unusual winter (for
which I am happy but the ice fishermen are not. The
lake is still not frozen over completely, there are
channels of water not frozen dispersed among the
channels of frozen ice.

Sunday as I looked out over the lake I noticed this
lone hoodie out there and he was diving and feeding.
I wondered why he was here as all the others had
left for the warmer climate where the water was not
freezing. I watched him several times over the next
two days, he was in the middle of the lake and he
was not leaving. I then noticed him waddling on the
ice channels and he tried to fly but just ended up
skidding across the ice.

That was when I started to get concerned that somehow
he was unable to fly and could not get off the lake. They
do not come onto the shore, they may stay in shallow water
to preen themselves but I have never seen them on solid
ground. I knew he was fine for now but would not be
fine once the lake froze over and stopped his food source.

I wanted to help him (aren’t we obsessed with helping
others who we perceive to need us) so I started with
the many phone calls that I would end up doing.
I started with our town Dog Officer as I figured
she would know some people or organizations that
might want to rescue him. I kept getting suggestions
of people who might help with other phone numbers
I might call. These included animal clinics and forestry
divisions and rehabilitation places..

Each day I would search the lake for him and I watched
him make his way close to shore in one place that was
not frozen. I let my imagination go and pictured myself
going to the shore where he was and rescuing him myself.
I know even if I could get my kayak in the water, that
they tip easily so even if I managed that, I would not be
able to net him without perhaps endangering myself.

Since I would be unable to coax him to shore with
bread as he eats only fish, I imagined myself with
a net that I could reach from shore and nab him. When
you are trying to help someone or something, it does
become an obsession. We are consumed with the
need to help and the danger is when we don’t realize
that there is nothing we can do but we keep trying
anyway.

I renewed my frenzy of phone calls and even went up
to three men at the Post Office, hoping one would know
what could be done, perhaps something I could do
or perhaps someone else would be willing to try.
Realize that the freezing cold is on its way this
weekend and there would be nothing I could do
once the lake is frozen solid. I even called our
Senior Center director and she called some
people for me.

Since I am a Reiki Master, I continually sent him
Reiki energy seeking a healing of whatever was
keeping him from flying to be with his own kind.
I had a call from a woman at Norcross Sanctuary
who asked about his wings, Were they askew or
drooping, I said no as I saw him waddle that once
across the ice. I knew his feet and legs were OK
because I was able to see when he had waddled.

She told me that sometimes they do not have the
feathers they need for flight. If he had been
attacked or mishandled, he could have lost
those very important feathers that are needed
for takeoff. I learned a lot from her and it
quieted my heart somewhat. She even told me
NOT to go out in my kayak. I wondered how
she found out that I had one and then I remembered
that Judy at the Senior Center who had called her
had probably told her that I had one. There was nothing
more I could do but pray and send him Reiki energy.

I got up this morning but was unable to see him
because the lake was all fogged in. It finally cleared
an hour ago and I cannot find him anywhere. I need
to assume that somehow he has been healed and is with
his flock of “hoodies” .

Part of me KNOWS that when something shows up
in your life in whatever form it takes, it is a gift for you.
He was a gift in the sense that I got to enjoy his antics
longer than normal but most especially to remind me that
to become obsessed in helping does no good for either
the supposed victim or for yourself.

When a situation shows up in your life, look at it and
ask it why it is there? What is there that you need to
look at and what is the gift in all of it? Love yourself
for whatever you are feeling (no guilt) and be
grateful for what you have learned through this
episode.

With all of this talk and thought of ice, I thought
you might like watching this.

When the tide is out… under the ice.
Very interesting what natives have done for ages.

INSPIRATIONS & HOPE FOR 2012

I am so grateful for the weather we have been having. I
am sure the ice fishermen do not share my sentiment. The
lake has gotten a film of ice for the third time this year and
this one too is melting. If my kayak was not put away for
winter, I would be out in it. Imagine 50 degree weather in
January? And….no snow.

I asked Mother Nature to please give us an easy winter as
we in the Northeast have had more than our share of weather
disasters. We have already exceeded our quota. For you who do not
know, we had the worst weather in decades last winter, then
came the tornado, then the micro bursts with hail that damaged
cars and roofs, then HurricaneIrene and then the Northeaster
before Halloween that caused severe power outages.

There has been so many predictions for 2012 but most
agree it will be a year of LOVE and POWER. Love is the
highest vibration on Earth so there lays your power. If you
choose to do everything with love in your heart, you will
have the power from on high to surmount any obstacles
in your path…from pebbles to mountains.

The Prediction Week on Healing with the Masters with
Jennifer McLean as the host has just been incredible. These
predictions are not about money or what the weather will
be doing but is about the possibilities for us humans
in this coming year. What you can do to make the most
of the energies that are around you and how to make
the decisions you need to make by following your heart.
The Path of the Heart is commitment to Peace, Balance
and Harmony.

You are the SPOTLIGHT which is the light of creation. You
are Light – use the Light you are to focus. Energy is created
from the Light. Put on your Etheric boots and walk with me.

BE IN JOY AND HOLD YOUR FOCUS
MY FOCUS IS ON ALL POSSIBILITIES

A perfect example of this was given to all of us
this past Christmas by Ben Breedlove. Millions
know his name now. After cheating death three times,
Ben Breedlove, 18, finally lost his life on Christmas day,
but not before leaving a moving last message recorded
for YouTube telling of his three near-death experiences
and how at peace he finally felt with his fatal heart condition
and the life he would likely soon leave behind.

A perfect example of passing judgement on another human is
shown in this video. Don’t pass this one up! Kiss’ Military Salute.
Some people may think that Gene Simmons & the band “KISS”
were strange people, I for one, but Gene got it right this time
changed my whole opinion of them…it just makes you feel good.

KISS MILITARY CONCERT IN IRAQ…. A GEM!!

Who would have thought that KISS even knew the words
or music to these songs!
No makeup and no costumes–just straight up!!
It is truly worth a few minutes of your time to watch !

This was filmed in Iraq at a USO tour of a US Marine Base.

Since I am still promoting Christmas, I just LOVE the feeling,
I want to insert something for New Years which is a symbol of
the new beginning that mankind is on board for in 2012. I just
love Sissel and the song Auld Lang Syne .

LOVE YOUR UNIQUENESS

Beloved,

What a fabulous weekend we just had. Indian Summer
was never more beautiful. Not only were we able to
go outside with just short sleeves, the sun for five days
just lifted all of our spirits.

I woke up one of those mornings and gasped with surprise
and pleasure after I raised the blinds and looked out my
bow window facing the lake. The water was just like glass
except it was a rainbow of colors. The sun was at such an
angle that it illumined all the colors of the trees and even the
few white clouds above. Our fall colors until that day were
quite dull I thought but it could been the many days of rain
that made it appear like that. The colors were so vibrant
and it was such a glorious site of seeing double the scene
in front of me. The reality of the clouds in the sky and
the colors of the actual trees against the reflection of all
that in the water.

In fact, as I was mesmerized by this, a man appeared
with a camera and a tripod. I have no idea who he
was, I had never seen him before and there he was
on the beach quite close to the water and he captured
that moment in time with his camera. I bet it ends up
on a calendar or in a book or who knows what.

I was in such gratitude for being here at this particular
moment in real life and not just enjoying a picture of it.
How blessed I am to live here and get these awesome
moments to treasure. Of course, the sun changes and
then the breeze picks up which ripples the water and
changes the whole effect. But….WOW, I wish I
could sear it into my memory yet need to appreciate
the very moment I am in and move on to the next one.

Of course after that, I am sure you know I went out
in my kayak, how could I not? As I am out in the
water with a current now, I began to look up at
all the trees and the many variations of colors that
each tree had and how Mother Nature makes such
a beautiful painting of the kaleidoscope of hues.
I seemed to go into a meditation of sorts although
I was aware of where I was .

The thought entered my mind of how much similarity
there was between humans and trees. The earth is
certainly abundant with both. We both have our
beginnings as seeds. Not all seeds grow into trees
or humans. As the seed is germinated, it begins
to grow and is protected and nurtured by a
womb or the dirt that encases it. The seedling
is like a newborn who needs to be nurtured and
protected while in infancy. They need mature adults
whether they be human parents or grown trees
that shelter and give the young sprout a chance
to grow into maturity.

There are stages of growth in humans and trees.
Seasons reflect also the newborn (Spring), young
adulthood (Summer), middle age (Fall) and maturity
(Winter). Trees begin in Spring with buds which
bloom into light colored leaves, then into Summer
where the leaves get a deeper color, then into
Fall where their individuality of color stands out,
then into Winter where all the leaves (hair) fall and
they stand naked in their strength just like a senior
adult.

I began to wonder if trees felt different and perhaps
alone like so many humans do. They are all green
at the beginning and have unique shaped leaves just
as we humans have unique faces and bodies.
Have you ever noticed that similar trees are usually
in groups but then there are the ones who all of a
sudden appear different? Just like people, there
are those that “appear” different. Lo and behold,
they (trees and humans) are different to enhance
the traditional ones.

A beautiful red tree in the fall is quite unique, did it
ever feel like it was the only one in a crowd of
yellow, orange and green trees? Do you feel
different than all your family, friends and peers?

I then realized that the beautiful red tree “enhanced ”
all the other colors. It brought out the uniqueness of
each color which by itself would not have created the
beautiful symphony of colors that met and pleased my
eye. Are you afraid to be unique? Your uniqueness
can only bless and amplify the beauty of those around
you. It takes all the colored trees and all the humans
to be so spectacular.

If we look at humanity as a whole, the uniqueness does
not stand out just as the trees do not reflect the beauty
of each leaf and its uniqueness. You have to look at
the individual leaf or person to notice the beauty of each.
Each leaf of every tree has its own Divine Timing and
purpose just as it echoes each individual human’s timing.
Not all the leaves turn color at the same time and each
one is destined to fall to the ground in its own time.
Each human does not reach its peak at the same age
and contributes to the whole whatever “stage” it is in.

Have you ever looked closely at a leaf to see just how
unique it is. Not even a snowflake of which we have
innumerable are the same, each is unique. So are
humans each unique and irreplaceable. There is no
one just like you, you have a purpose that only you
can fill and you fill it by just BEING you. You are
not called a human being for nothing, you are not
a human DOING. Just be…….like the leaf that
appears to just hang there until it falls. The beautiful
loving energy that is you only needs to BE.

AND YOU WILL AFFECT ALL OF THE WORLD

Lets be proud of the kaleidoscope that we are as we
love each others differences. I find it so hard to put
into words just what I felt and became aware of
while sharing myself with the trees and the water.
I do know to the depths of my soul that the “whole”
is not complete even if one individual is missing. It
takes all of us with our unique color or flavor to
make us complete, a whole world.

Let me leave you with the beauty and simplicity yet
joyfulness of this video.

A sweet, short video written, performed and animated
by Wendy J. Francisco, describes the love shown her by
both her Dog and her God. With this simple piece of
poetry, Wendy has racked up 3 million hits on YouTube
in two years. (Happy video is sure to wag your tail!)
