NATURAL LIVING EXPO AND ME

I am writing this newsletter a little early because I have a
BIG weekend coming up. I will be a speaker and have a
booth at the Natural Living Expo on Sept 25 &26, 2010.

I am busily preparing for this event, yet the lake drew me
out in my kayak. The lake has been so still all day, hardly
a breeze to ripple the beautiful mirroring effect of all the
trees in their glorious colors as background for all the
homes on the other side of the lake which were reflected
on the water. It is so unusual to be kayaking on a mirror
and quite a different experience so I seized the moment
and went out.

With hardly any wind, it is so much easier kayaking with no
resistance that I was hoping to go around the whole lake
which has been rare for me this year as my shoulder is
still recovering from my fall earlier in the year. My
favorite places to go to is the two coves at one end of
the lake. When I got to the first one, the geese were
there so I honored my commitment to them that if they
stayed off my beach I would not disturb them if I saw
them as I kayaked. So….on I went to the next cove and
that one also had quite a few geese so I moved on. There
are more of them as they are gathering to practice their
flight patterns for their annual migration.

I did get to go around the whole lake which is such a treat.
Many of the boats have already been pulled in and housed
for the winter and some of the homes are closed for the
season. More and more cabins are being converted to
year round homes so there are less closed homes. This
is a bittersweet time for me as I actually have the lake to
myself so the peace and quiet is unbelievable . Even the
birds are not chirping and I did not cross the path
of the beaver that likes to slap his tail at me.

A moment in time to remember for the future when the
lake is frozen and although others like ice fishermen and
ice skaters and snow mobilers are active, I do not go
out on the lake. I feel such love and appreciation for
Mother Nature as she transforms once again.

If you are coming to the Expo, I am in
Booth #10 and I will be giving my talk and workshop
on Love Is Enlightment at noon on Saturday in the Executive
Suite. I will also be offering Loving Advice from the Mother
(who is the Divine Feminine, Mother Mary) at my booth.
I would love to give you a hug if you are able to
make it, please stop by and say HI.

FEEL GOOD CPR

I have been trying to find something to write to you about.
My well of inspiration seems to have run dry and I know
we all have periods of dryness, in the physical world and
also in the spiritual world. I decided to just sit here and let
whatever comes out to be what I was meant to share with
you.

I know I am resisting the fall weather only because it means
that winter is not far behind. I so loved the summer, It was
a true summer was it not? I so love to be warm, wear less
clothing, walk around barefoot in my house and outside too.
I love to go in my kayak with only shorts and a top, to sit on
my deck and enjoy all the birds flittering around and chirping
to me and each other. The sun just warms my spirit and makes
me smile to just think about it. I can open my windows and
doors and let the warm air in and watch my tomatoes ripen.

Did it tell you that I did something that made me laugh at
myself? I decided this summer to have tomatoes, cukes,
and peppers in pots so I could pick my own. Well, my
cherry tomatoes were ripening nicely but they kept falling
into the pot with a little piece of the stem attached. I
assumed (you know what assumes does?) that the birds
I was feeding were landing on the tomato cages and
knocking them off or some other insect was cutting them
away from the cluster. I moved the tomato pot as far away
from the bird feeders as I could and it was still happening.
I finally looked at the plastic label that I had put in the dirt
so I could remember what was in each pot. You’ll never
guess. I was growing Sun Gold tomatoes which were orange
in color when they were ripe. I had been waiting for them to
turn red but they knew when they were ripe and fell to the
ground. It’s funny, but I had no more problems after that
discovery, I wonder why?

We have been having a cold spell, colder than normal for
this time of year so I finally turned on my heat throughout
my house after just turning it on in the bathroom for one day.
Last night I was so cold I turned on my space heater near me.
It is on wheels which I love, so I wheeled it into my office so I
could have some extra warmth here. To help me get over
this hump in the road, I am going to focus on what I like about
the colder weather.

I was able to throw a jacket over my banging around clothes
this morning to go to the dump, I did not have change. It feels
good to snuggle into the flannel sheets I use for the winter. I no
longer have to wash the hummingbird feeders as they have left
for the winter (I miss them and the orioles, though). When you
love someone, it is not a chore to care for them. The trees are
showing their individuality with their different displays of color.
I get to sleep later in the morning as the sun no wakes me up so
early. A good cup of coffee or tea seems to taste so much
better as it warms your insides. Hot cereal is a treat also. I
will be taking down the screens so will have a clearer view of
Mother Nature. Night school is offering an array of subjects
that pique my interest. These are just some of the things I
am using to make the transition easier.

I do have some information that will make you feel good
just to know about it. I know you want to help wherever
you can and in an emergency, we don’t always know
WHAT to do to help. Take a look at this site and
learn how you can help any time you run into a
situation that needs immediate attention.

Although I have been trained in CPR, I always wondered if I
would be able to do mouth to mouth resuscitation with a
stranger. NOW, any of us can help if we are faced with
this dilemma. Who knows if one of your loved ones will
need your assistance some day.

I know this made me feel better just knowing it and right
now I am looking for ways to feel more interested in
the moment I am in. Have a Happy Autumn.

CONFUSED? STAND TOGETHER FOR THE USA

BRRR! 62 degrees today, fall is here. I had another poignant
sign of Fall this morning. I looked out at 6:45AM as I always do to
check out the beach and to see if anything happened unusual
through the night. There were no geese, in fact all was in order.

It felt like I had just turned around and all of sudden, 32 geese
were on the beach. WOW! Without another thought I proceeded
to go out onto the deck. I am certainly glad that I was dressed in my
sweats as it was chilly. Geese will ignore if they see you and you do
nothing so there is not another opportunity to make a grand entrance
to startle them. I said in a loud voice: “GO”. The geese that are
familiar with me started to head for the water but the other
multitude just looked at me as if to say: “Who is this crazy old
lady who is hollering, she can’t mean me”. Soooo I headed down
through the gate swinging a white (so they can see it) pail. They
moved into the water but were still just curious, they had no
intention of leaving. Once I hit the beach, I started to run and
stamp my feet, swinging the pail and shouting: “GO, GO, GO”.

Geese are like humans in a way, once some of them started
leaving, the fear spread like wildfire. They picked up on the
fact that the geese who live on the lake were leaving so they
decided to go to. But…..only so far. So I filled my pail with
water from the lake and threw it towards them which makes
a big splash noise which enforces what I am telling them. “GO!”

The local geese spread their wings and flew over the buoys but
the new ones did not know what to do. So they kept swimming
around the U shaped buoy protected section and did not like
the rope that held the buoys together. Finally, a couple of them
honked and flew over so then a bunch of them did but still about
7 of them acted confused until they finally decided to spread their
wings and fly over.

This is the time that all geese are gathering together to fly south.
They love my lake as they gather and practice being in formation.
The regular ducks have been gathering for a week so I should have
been prepared for the geese but I wasn’t. I was still in denial (I still
am) that winter is upon us. There will be more congregating because
some years ago, I have counted around 80 to 100 geese gathering for
the big push. I can only hope that the word will spread among
them that they are not wanted on this particular beach.

I find the behavior of ducks or geese and humans are quite similar.
They congregate in packs and if you can startle one then it spreads
like wildfire.

I did have a little thought as I was marching out to the beach that
if they decided not to leave or even to advance towards me, I would
run the other way. After all, there are so many of them and with their
necks stretched up, they were quite big. Yet…..each of them were
thinking singly and each one saw me as a giant and a force to reckon
with without realizing that if they stuck together in their refusal to move,
there was nothing this giant could do to them.

We humans are that way also. We think only of what we see as an
individual and do not realize the force of us joined together would
be a force to reckon with. Just look at what Pastor Terry Jones
has been able to do with a congregation of only 50 people. He is
certainly in the minority, in fact he is not even a decimal point in
the amount of people who do not like what he is doing.

Do you wonder what you can do about it except for just watching
the news?

Do you realize that you could be a force for peace?

I know I was wondering and as I threw the water at the
geese, a thought came to me that I could envision throwing
water on the Beloved Book of the Muslim People as
he would be trying to light it. I “saw” a crowd of us
humans standing there with pails of water that could be
used to stop the burning metaphorically. Let us not be
like the geese in our perception but join together to
be a force to be reckoned with.

I am not Muslim but I am an American and my beloved
country stands for the freedom to practice your faith
regardless of what faith you subscribe to. Yet we also
stand for freedom of speech. Terry Jones has the right
to talk about what he does not like but he does not
have the right to “harm” anyone and the Muslims
would be harmed in their heart and soul if something
sacred to them was harmed.

THERE IS SOMETHING YOU CAN DO!!!

Fly the Flag Country-wide tomorrow.

This year, people have agreed to fly their flags everywhere!

Remember the first time 9/11 happened? Everybody put flags
on their cars or houses!

We really showed the world and those terrorists our patriotism,
strength and love for our country!

So on Thursday, September 11th, please put out a flag, any size,
in your front yard, on your house, your car, anywhere to show:

Respect for the symbol of our country, the American flag,

Remembrance for those who died, those left behind, those
fighting to hold our freedoms,

Rebellion against those who try to hurt us, and

Reverence for ourselves and this great country, right or wrong!

Let’s all do this together and pass the word.

Thank you for doing this and God bless you and America!
